My wife is the coolest!
My wife just helped me set the toe on my car. Yah I know not too big a deal but she is 5 months pregnant. And she will be at Road A this weekend. I am trying to talk her into helping me bleed my brakes but I do not think I will get her out of the car.

Yeah well my wife just bought me a 911 Cup racecar, and a crew to work on it, and a garage to put it in, and a Vette to drive to work in...just so long as I never drive or talk about them to anyone. I'm also supposed to pretend that I'm not actually married. She's so great.
Dude--you are a superhero!!! Gad, my wife gives me (a little) crap about my *small* auto-x habit--and she isn't pregnant!
Good luck w/ the future kid

Doh, well....my wife called the stealership today checking on some minor parts for me. Other than that, she drives her car and wonders why her check oil light comes on. BTW, she never checks her oil.
Theres a reason her nickname is "Frantastic."

Don't say anything about Judy. I've seen you trying not to get dirt on your hands working on your own car.
Zsolt is actually pretty funny. He tries not to get dirty but if it starts to look hopeless he just says "Fug it" and dives in. I get a kick out of it.

^^ What he said. Nathan is 3 months old and it's he's amazing. Stupid things he does are the highlight of my day. He is high maintenance though
My wife autocrossed until she was about 6 months pregnant. Track events were verboten though. Next weekend (Roebling) is her first time back on track in a year! But she hates helping with the car
So congrats!
Thanks, had to share.

I have to say that the support Fran shows Blake at the track is pretty cool. To drag my wife to the track involves much transporting of stuff, kid, stroller, cooler, diaper bag, toys, snacks, sunshades and probably 5 other things I forget about. One child and stuff fill an entire Protege for a half day trip. She most times opts out.
And then lets me hear about how much time this <expletive deleted> hobby of mine takes up.
At least she doesn't harp about the money.

Heh heh, my wife's name is on my car as 'Car Owner:'. It might seem like a small thing, but I think she likes seeing it there and it gets her involved as the official brake bleeder, lap timer and sandwich maker. She and the kids will be at Road ATL with me this weekend.

No way, my wife is cooler then your wife.
Seriously I read your post and thought I was reading my own thread.
At the end of last year I was considering a co-drive with some dude who was going to National level autocross events. One day my wife comes into the office and says, "why don't you go and get your road racing license?"
My response, "I love you".
This year we went to Roebling Road for the double school in Feb., bought an ITA CRX in April, and have a baby on the way (4 months along).
She does occasional track days and autocrosses (not recently for obvious reasons), but I know she prefers the track with comments like this... "watch out ... someday i may be the racer and you may be the track wife."
-dave, who is Gayle's bitch... or is that be'otch?

haha we should make this thread required reading for all current rr/ax gf's and fiances.
my girlfriend is a trooper. i'm currently at the stage where i'm teaching her how to drive a stick (no pun intended) and she's a good student, albeit her gear changes are a little scary (talk about jamming it into gear!).
soon, she'll learn heel toe and some LFB, and we'll get her out on the a/x course as a co-driver and HPDE 1
as far as getting her to help me with the car, i think i'm going to ask her to help me bleed my brakes next week. She's proven handy as my official "Hey give me the 14mil socket" grease monkey.
cars and my gf, bring them together into the same crazy hobby/obsession and i probably don't need anything else in the world!

I wouldn't refer to my wife as a "Wrench" (or a wench), but she's out in the garage with me to bleed the brakes before every event. We also double-duty the car at most events, it's great for the relationship to share hobbies. Thankfully it's an automobile related hobby we share.

The first few months after the pregnancy is over are pretty rough... at least they were for me. The pregnancy part was cake.

My wife is known for being very understanding (must be, having put up with me for >23 years).
She used to pump my brakes for me, sometimes on the side of the road (the Healey is in her name). Even when pregnant!
She doesn't accompany me to autoxes and races, but sometimes goes with us when the kids are autoxing.
Racing worries her, so it is hard for her to watch (although her father remains a race car owner).
With all the babies on the way, do I need to start bringing her for her expertise? She is a Labor and Delivery nurse.

Yeah, but from what I've heard, things start to get easier once you get past the first 216 months or so...

My wife is supportively tolerant (huh?) of my autocrossing and occasional HPDE participation. Not complaining really, it certainly could be better, and it could be a whole bunch worse. And she has done the pedal mashing on a brake bleed job or two. In general, she has great apathy of all things car related. Safe to say we won't be co-driving at any autocross soon.
Blake, glad to hear you've got a life partner that's in to all of this with you. And congrats on your impending parenthood.
Casey, who remembers his first son's birth like it was yesterday... and now he's 13 years old and pushing 5' 10"!!!!!!!!!!

wow...well i defenetily have something to work towards. im myself am young wife..hopefully my husband considers me at least half as cool as some of your wives. when i met him i wasnt into the whole car scene either but that has completely changed over the past 2 years. i love going to road races and drift events now. i especially love watching my husband race or sitting pasenger with him ...such a turn on
actually just watching him work on the car is exciting to me
question..maybe you guys could help me. my husband has really put alot of effort into trying to get me involved with the whole import scene and particullarly with road racing. he really wants to help me get into it...he even built me a del sol complete with roll cages and all. ive been practicing driving it for about a year now..just getting used to the car on the road and some canyons but we really want to take it out to the track so i can get more practice. i was supposed to go out to buttonwillow this past month but we found out there was no begineers class. does anyone have any suggestions on a good upcoming event for me to start out at? thanks for your help!

Go to willow springs tomorrow. Redlinetrackevents is holding a track day with a beginners group for $100. Class is $30. Looks like its not full yet. Just call in sick, show up, pay your money, and run.

Oh yeah, and you'll need a 1995 or newer helmet. And you should check out the car to make sure everythings ok. Its not at the big fast track, so you'll probably not go any faster than what you'll do on the freeway getting to the track.
