How much does the US spec ITR weigh?
As the heading says... I just wonder what the "official" weight is as seen in Acura's materials. I have a UK spec ITR and the weight is quoted at 1101 kg(2425lbs).
This is without air con. Just wondering if there's a difference in weight...

I weighed mine on a truck scale here at work recently.... 2540 lbs. with 3/4 tank of gas, carbon hood, and AC, does anyone else have a 97 with A/C !?!?!?
Before: stock, with full tank o' gas 2550 w/o me, 2790 w/me
After putting myself and my car on a diet, 2320 w/o me, 2540 w/me
Let's just say the car gets up and goes. Weight makes SUCH a difference.

The official weight of 2000+ USDM ITRs is 1197 kg (2639 lb). However, most owners who have weighed their 2000+ ITRs have reported numbers in the 1550 lb range. I don't know why there is such a disrepancy.
The increase in weight of USDM over UK/JDM cars can probably be explained by heavier bumpers, side impact beams, AC, and the the dual airbag assemblies.

I bet you meant to say 2550 lb, huh?

Yes - I meant 2550 lbs. I didn't realise that a full tank of fuel was quite that heavy. When I weighed my R (on a probably not very accurate town recycling center scale) I got 2520 lbs. I had a close-to-empty tank of gas and no spare tyre or jack (30 lbs) at the time. Now this measurement makes some sense to me.
Sackdz, ITR583: I pulled the following items out...
Front and rear bumper supports, complete ABS system, complete SRS system, no spare tire, jack, front strut bar, brake dust shields, exhaust tunnel heat shields..
And I replaced the following items for difference in weight..
Traded out stock catalytic for 2.5" test pipe
Traded out stock header for DC JDM stainless 4-1
Traded out P/S system for rack and pinion from a 92 Civic CX
I plan on doing other weight reduction next week. I'll weigh it again and post the results..
I'll be doing the following..
Install my 15x6" Regamasters (car was weighed on stock ITR wheels/tires)
Install RS*R cat-back exhaust (I hope it's a little lighter thn stock)
Install Comptech 6.75lb. flywheel
Install Fastbrakes aluminum hat rotors (less weight on the hat)
We'll see.....
