Mitsu 3000GT Headlights On 92-95 Hatch
hey, my friend and I are trying to build a show car here and he'd like to Mitsubishi 3000GT (VR4) Headlights on this 92 Hatch. Will it work? what would we have to do besides a bit of fabrication? any Wiring need to be changed. And i don't know why the hell he wants those headlights i thnk they're ugly, but thats just his taste.
Thanks! (From Martin)

no. no bump for you
no. no bump for you
are you talking about the pop-up, or the inlayed, either ones are going to be very hard, as 3000gt lights are part of the upper portion of the car, like on the hood. so there is going to be extensive mods required. something like this, if this is your thing needs to go to a reputable body and fab shop, and be prepared to drop around 2-3 grand for this, good luck,

I will try to help you. I don't want to, but I don't want this to be a HUGE flame thread and I'm not in the mood report this for being in the wrong forum.
The first thing you should do it check out clubsi.com. They are more into that kind of thing then Honda-Tech.com. HT is performance/technical orientated where as clubsi is more appearance/showcar orientated.
If the two of you are actually the ones doing the fabrication, then I think you have taken a bigger bite than you can swallow. I say this because you say minor fabrication and you don't know if you have to change the interior switch. The fabrication will not be minor. The shape of the two headlights is in no way similar.
I am not sure if they will work...that depends on alot of things. If you don't wire them correctly, they will not work. If you don't fabricate the brackets correctly, they will not work (they will turn on but they wont be aim at the right spot).
Wiring will need to be changed if you are using HID due to the ballasts. I am not sure if 3000GTs are projectors or HID though. And why do you think you would need to change switches? There is a 99.9% chance that if the switch works for the civic lights and you correctly wire up the new lights, it will work.
I think you and your buddy should do ALOT more research. Get the wiring diagrams for both lights so you use the right wires. Also remember that the fenders, hood, bumper, rad. support (maybe) will have to be modified alot. The 3000GT lights are square and the EG lights are ovalish.....lots of cutting and welding. Try looking on clubsi.com for someone who did a 97+ prelude light conversion because they are similar shape. And lastly put on your flame suit because people are gonna flame the hell out of this question.
