Default 1.6 non vtec (stop laughing) valve tick tried adjusting

can those small plungers in the adjusting tappet go bad i can get them for around 3 and change a piece (60$ for all 16) i adjusted my valves and it got better but not all the way (now it seems louder but not as loud as b4 the adj when it warms up) any1 ever mess around w/ those

change your title to VTEC so you dont get superflamed by all the bashers on h-t

I guess I'll jump the basher bandwagon...

It's VTEC not vtech, VTECH, v-tec or V-TEC. Simply VTEC. One word, no spaces, nothing.

oops my bad i know that lol darn proofreading. vtec honda vtech my kids toys
o well sorry bout that
when i went to adjust the valves i noticed that the ends of the tappets seemed to move indipendently of the screw i let them sit and adjusted so i had a slight drag
great still ticks
what valve? do u mean the oil orifice in the middle of the head?
not sure some1 told me to try changing the adjusting tappets

i tried editing it but it didnt seem to work

you might be due for head rebuild, but I would try to readjusting make sure that the motor is cooled off.

Same thing here. D16Y7, car sat overnight, adjusted valves, now valve noise is louder than before.

mine quieted down a bit and i did do it cool after it sat over 24hrs plugs out etc
i was thinking of taken the head out and doin it
i only owe like 1500 and i can get alot more but id like it to run well b4 i sell it so it wont come back and bite me in the **** lol

I just wrote up something on my D16Y8 about valve problem. When I got the clearences to close I was getting more noise than when I did it to what the dealer recommended. The dealer recommended .20MM on the intake side and .23MM on the exhaust side.

thats a hair tighter than what i adjusted them at and thats within the specs(in .18 to .22 ex .23 to .27)i adjusted them to .008 in and .o10 on the exhaust i think ill do the tbelt this weekend and readjust to those thanks
