Default Auto Tranny or Clutch??

i drive an automatic 96 lx accord and today when i was going to work i felt my car slip when going from 1st to 2nd gear. I dont know too much about auto trannies and clutches but from what i know, auto's have clutches and such too. The fact that it felt like it slips, is this a problem with the tranny or the clutch? I'd say its probably the clutch but I dont know too much about automatics. the irony is i know more about the manuals.

damn 414 posts and you still don't know that Auto trannies dont have clutches? AT's have trq converters. There are clutches inside the trans, but that is another story.

If you felt a slip, itd have been your trans.

Don't attempt an AT to MT conversion before you know A LOT more. Dont even concider it.

so what did you type for all those popping up? Did any of them mention what the problem was for the slippage? Or were you just searching for auto trannny info? thats a different story. didn't mean to offend you, i'm at work, and do not necessarily have time to search as thoroughly as you did, i was just asking if it were to happen to you, what would you think it could be. and i take it that your input on this was that its the tranny, i thank you for that, and for the conversion, other than taking the current tranny out, what else do i need to know about a tranny that i will probably never want to use again, so therefore most if not all my research is done on the manual trannies. I think that you'd agree that manual trannies are better performance wise than are autos for hondas.

hey man
ive gotta 94 accord ex w/ an auto trany and had the exact same problem. GET IT CHECKED SOON! what happened on mine was that shavings off the torque convertor clogged up the oil filter in the tranny and starved the pistons in the trany for oil. the result was a cracked piston an thus a new 1200$ trany. that may not be the case w/ yours, but mine did the same slipping. hope that helps.
