Default Quick Offset Question. +38 7" rim vs +38 8" rim.

Which would stick "out" further, a +38 7" rim or a +38 8" rim. I'm trying to do some measurements and this little tidbit would be helpful.

Thanks.

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by Todd00 &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">Which would stick "out" further, a +38 7" rim or a +38 8" rim. I'm trying to do some measurements and this little tidbit would be helpful.

The 8" rim would stick out 1/2 inch further.

The offset is measured from the centerline of the wheel so any increase in width is evenly split on either side of the offset.

Since offset is the same for both (38...I think it's mm?) then the distance between the hub and the centerline is the same. So the 8" wheel is wider and should stick out 1/2" more.

edit: too slow

Offset is the distance from the centerline of the wheel to the wheel bolt up face (the part of the wheel that contacts the car's hub when you attach the wheel).

The wider wheel will be further "outboard". The centerline is the centerline, no matter how wide the wheel is. If the offset is the same, the wider wheel will not only be further outboard, it will also be further inboard as well.

Trying to reason this through, I think that with the same offset, the 8" wheel will stick out an extra 1/2 inch each side. I could be completely wrong, though.

EDIT: I am REALLY slow.
