Default 89 crx minime ecu???

hey, i got a 89 crx, base model with the stock 1.5, not sure the full code, and want to do a mini-me, but everything i see is on newer civics, what ecu do i need to run and is there more wiring involved. i read that writeup and feel very confident with doing it, but i dunno if it would be diff as i don't believe it is obd. if somebody could help me w/ it i'd really appreciate it.

Your engine code is a D15B2..

You can do a mini-me on that block you just need the z6/y8 head and all the other trimmings..

There are a few different ways to do the wiring and ecu.. Your car is obd0.. You can either get a pr3 ecu, use a vafc, or convert to obd1 and run a p28 ecu.. How is your budget looking?

i can get the head and all from a friend at work pretty cheap, just have to find ecu and figure out wiring. i have no idea what a vafc is, and my budget isn't very large that's why i'm not doing a full swap and all. how hard would it be to convert to obd1? also if ya know, what kind of pricing am i looking at for either option?

would it be better to just build up the motor i have now? like bottom end and head work or is the minime really worth doing?

A mini-me will add some power but its not massive, but still nice..

A vafc is a unit made by Apexi that allow some tuning and vtec control, In your case it will operate the vtec so you could still keep your stock computer.. Costs about $230 or so..

Another option is to get a pr3 ecu.. Its a obd0 vtec ecu..

Converting to obd1 is not too hard but will require you to get a obd1 distributor and obd0-obd1 conversion harness.. Also will need a obd1 ecu.. This the most expensive option but it probably the best..

If you want to keep it all simple and cheap I would say the vafc is going to be the best since you can use it for tuning and boost later on..
