Default Air filter upgrades...

I'm looking to get a little extra breathing for my R. I'm also looking to stay GS or DS Legal. What are opinions about the comptech replacement filter and the K&N replacement filter? Thanks!

I have the Comptech and it works great. Just be sure to clean it every few thousand miles as it gets drity quick. Though I will say I could not tell a difference with it installed. I just look at it as a mental advantage.

It also did better than K&N and better than no filter at all, which I found kinda odd.

Comptech filter is a good choice.

Well, foam filters flow better than paper filter on average but the trade-off is they don't filter as good as paper filter. More small particles can go inside the engine.

I have read a few other comparisions too. Although they are not comparing comptech with K&N, but most reults concluded that foam filter do not filter as good.

K&N recently released a drop-in replacement filter for 94+ Integras, part number E-2427. In the past, people have had to hack up the stock filter and mount a universal K&N filter on the stock elbow. As far as I know, no one has tested out the new filter yet..and it might be worth checking out.

Can you tell a difference in sound with your Comptech filter?

Since it still uses the stock airbox, I do not notice any difference in sound quality or volume.

I Had the K&N ordered. I have not picked it up yet, I was wondering if it really fit properly in the airbox or if the Comptech was the better way to go. The Comptech seems to be less expensive, at least less than the price I ordered the K&N for.

I prefer using the stock rubber seal and modify to use the 2820 drop-in.
It fits perfect like stock. I have doubt about the straight drop-in
https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=83320

From BSQ:

After closer inspection of the E-2427 photo, it appears that it doesn't have the rubber gasket which seals the filter to the airbox.
I personal would still opt for the K&N RU-2820 instead of the E-2427. The RU-2820 can be purchased for $30-$35, which is half the price of the E-2427.

*****

E2427 may potentially have leakage problem due to the lack of rubber seal.

K&N also makes this (also known as the M's Super Cleaner), but for some reason they don't sell it here

The lid and diamond cut/engraving was custom. I actually got the system for free minus the custom engraving time since my work had one laying around. I hope to have production models ready soon, I'm expecting a good 21-27hp jump with the exhaust and the smell is wonderful! Oh, and it turned some heads at the autocross I ran in with that exhaust on.

I think this is because of the velocity stack in the Comptech filter. Comptech actually faxed me a dyno graph also showing about 2-3hp gained across the whole graph.

I have a Spoon Filter (same company) it's nice. Nothing to write home about (or spend $130 on for that matter), like any intake upgrade...but hey i'ts Spoon, it's mental.
