Fuel system problem?
Dead CRX. 89, 1.6.
Where the hell is the fuel pump relay? It's a place to start... I think it's dead/dying so it's too late to listen for the click.
Disconnecting the negative battery terminal for 30 seconds used to fix this.. may be something else. I assume it reset the ECU when I did this.
Just turns over.. and over... and over.. or.. alternately roars to life then dies immediately. Bought it used and this car is pretty trashed, but it gets me to work.
Then again, if I leave it sit for a while, reset the ECU, then it sometimes still fires up. Then runs fine for the day (most of the time)
I got good low end, and good high end, but this lapse in the middle of the RPM band when floored. 230k on an unrebuilt engine. Figured if it was compression I'd loose low end too right, but I'm too lazy to check it until it smokes or something.
Long time ago when I did initial diagnostics, I had spark..
I only got internet at work right now, and it's sitting in the driveway dead so each thing to check/try will likely take a day.
Thanks in advance for any insight.

drivers side footwell, behind the plastic...hard to describe. search here or on yahoo and there should be loads of pictures.

just take out the hazard and ecu fuses from the engine fuse box for 20-30 seconds...alot easier.

Thanks. Stopped doing it again.. I gave the wires on that relay a pull though.
Who knows...
I guess that would be easier.. assuming I tightened my batt terminals. Good to know though. ECU gets power from hazard too?

depending on what book you read..chiltons, helms, haynes, etc....it says to pull either the hazard or the ecu fuse. so i just pull both to make sure.

The relay down there is the main relay, and they actaully go bad quite often on crx's. If this problem persists go get one from honda, I got a brand new one from Honda for $50. Well worth it. Or you can fix your old one. The wires tend to melt together through the years shorting the relay. Just thought I would give you a heads up.
Hmmm, I'm getting a code 16 in my GF's 91 DX, sometimes, we crank it and it doesn't start and gives us a code 16 (Fuel injection) I know it's not the fuel pump because a dead pump doesn't throw a code...so I figured it was something fuel related, what I didn't know is that the main relay also energizes the pump and injectors therefore this may very well be the problem.
When it doesn't start I just try again for like 10 times then it runs.
Time to switch relays.
