Default Freeze 12

I just bought off ebay a Freeze 12 kit

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...33543

for my 85 accord. I have a few questions:
Has anyone used this before? Did it work well?
What is the avg cost to have it pro evaced before filling? And what do you say to them as far as just evacuating vs. converting and recharging as well? If you don't have it evaced I've read on the net to just crack the line and let it all out. Smart or not?
Before I do anything I want to make sure my system is functioning properly. I already know that the air isnt cold by fell, but how do I check the compressor, etc. so I don't waste my Freeze 12 charge. The kit I bought comes with a can of stop leak and a fill line guage too. How do I know how much my system takes? Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.

To test your system , jumper the pressure switch in the high side line near the dryer, and turn the key on,the cooling fans should turn on and the compressor clutch should engage. You can then start the engine and watch the compressor run.
