Default Pedals for heel-toe

I need some pedals that are wide so I can heel-toe using the width of my foot instead of actually using the proper heel-toe technique. I find that I have to get on the brakes really hard to heel-toe correctly. I think I can better control braking and throttle using the width of my feet instead.

Does anyone have pics or reccomendations for some good wide pedal covers?

hmm how long have you been doing this? it seems like if you are on the brakes too hard maybe you just need a little more practice? but if you honestly have very small feet and need larger pedals to that end, i would suggest maybe some of the razo pedal covers with the adjustable width side plates? i havent used them personally but the adjustability might help in your situation.

Momo makes good ones but paying that kind of money for pedals is ridiculous. Just buy some cheap ones that look like they will do 2 things. Make the pedals "wider" and attatch safely. You don't want to be in the middle of a race to have one of your pedals crooked or falling off (or pedal covers).

I have "cheapies" in my trackable daily crx and they worked GREAT! They are the Ebay special I believe. My only problem (in both my cars.. street and ITA crx) is that the gas pedal "height" is not high enough so when I'm on the brake I can't give it as much gas as I need to so what I did was duct tape a piece of wood to the gas pedal that was about 1/2 inch thick to raise the pedal height enough. Now when I heel toe I give it enough gas to bring the rev's above 6k.

The cheap ones are fine. Most of the sparco pedals mount by drilling into the pedals. Its hard to practice on the street, because you are usually using alot more force on the brake pedal on track.

I have the mugen pedals and I think they're great.

i really didn't like doing the side-step in my old 240. at least on that car, in order to be able to legitmately blip the throttle while hard on the brakes, i really didn't have enough of my foot on the brake itself. a couple times my foot actually came off the brake pedal entirely, making for some pretty interesting situations.

on my miata i have the factory stuff on there, and can h-t properly. never slipped off the brake, and can operate everything just peachy. i say figure out a way that you can do it properly instead of the sidestep thing.

i guess i have to just practice more like you said... my problem is when i rotate my heel to the pedal i get on the brakes harder and lose a lot of speed. i think i'd have better control side-stepping. i guess i'll just have to figure out what works best for me

it just takes practice to be able to blip the throttle without significant changes in pedal pressure.

i'm such a moron and wasn't thinking. i've been trying to be smooth so i've been trying to h-t while rev-matching....

i should be blipping the throttle and engaging the clutch on the rev-match

Here are some that I've been looking at lately...

OMP has a nice 3-pedal set that you can place any way you like onto your pedals.

Mugen's look to be very good as well. Nice grippy brake/clutch pedals, and a slight lip on the gas pedal to aid with heel/toe.

Sparco has many you can choose from, my favorite is the one with the tiny rubber inserts for some more grip.

Momo also has tons to choose from, as does 'Levoc'.

i asked the same question awhile back: https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=641464

i bought a set of sparcos, and by the time they got here i figured out how to do it w/o them, so i sold them. you probably just need a little more practice. if you're doing it around town, just be easy and smooth with it. basically how agressive you are with it should be proportional to how agressive you're driving. you'll get it with time.

You just need more practice. I can heel-toe any Honda out there with stock pedals. I only needed the training pedals (pedal covers) for the first month or two of learning to heel-n-toe.

I used to have some kind of OMP pedal. Scroll down...

It was an OMP something. I can't remember what I bought. It's been too long, but the pedal was HUGE. I'm sure someone knows what it is.

I think this depends on a few things....one if your legs are too long and how big your feet are. When I had my Civic I would have to literally turn my foot sideways to hit the gas and the brake at the same time. With size 12 shoes it was impossible to do, and even if I could, my legs were too long so my knee would hit the steering wheel.

I had a set of Razo pedals that I liked very much. Very easy to heal-toe. I probably wouldn't have ever bought pedals, but the car came with them. Now I think I'm spoiled. I find stock pedals difficult to manage, but that could also be just lack of practice.

i've got some momo pedals that i like, and are a little wider than stock, but prob paid more than i should have for them.

problem with those pedals was that install was a BITCH. the accelerator is hard to drill through because it's not flat.

The sparco curva pedals are really nice. They have some texture to them, and they're like $25-30 everywhere.

Anybody find a good way to keep those little rubber nubs in the pedals?
