Default Mini Me head swap help!

hello, im posting this for my neighbor that needs some serious help with his CRX and was wondering if anyone could help. Well here goes; he has a zc sohc block that was running perfect when he decided to get an sohc vtec head and slap it in there. The head is mounted on the block with the 95 dx timing belt and the 95 distribuitor. I dont know what type of intake manifold he has but i see one vaccum hose inlet on the throttle body (when connected it to one of the 4 vaccum lines that is left over from the old throttle body it idles at about 2200 rpm) . The engine runs but idles rough and backfired a little. he says when he drives it, it wont go past 5k rpm and boggs oh im. any suggestions on how to fix/ tune? thanks (he really needs his car running and would appreciate any help on making it run correctly so he could go to and from school) if there are any pictures of a specific part of the engine to help in troubleshooting the problem i can take them and post them up. thanks-

Tell your "neighbour" to get on a computer and ask himself, and if this is for you, you dont have to be scared to admit it is your question...it is a message board for a reason

do you have a different ecu, or at least an rpm activated switch to run the V-tec, this might explain the bog in upper rpms, a V-tec is not designed to run up in rpms without the more aggressive cam lobe. If this is any help??

I am currently working on a mini-me swap on my old civic, the D-seriesis easy, all you need is the right ecu, or at least a switch to activate the V-Tec, and remove the oil restrictor in the deck of the block. A B-series is a little different, you need a remote oil line going to the head. To do this, get a T fitting for the sending unit, and run a hose to one of the oil passages on the side of the head.

To the thread poster, i'd say the problem is with the timing belt. Did it fit okay? Because as far as I know you should've used the Z6 timing belt...

Worlds apart. Search "LSVTEC" or "LS/VTEC" on this site...
