They work, I used to use a borrowed one.

As for the bar to hold it, the only one I know of is from Stable Energies as distributed by I/O Port: http://www.ioportracing.com/restraint.htm

Hope that helps,

Jon

Here's my custom camera mount. It's been a while since I put I put it together so I don't have any instructions per say but it might give you some ideas. It's all aluminum and very light weight.

if you wanna get a best motoring image... you can try the following...

You know them camera tri-pods? (but you need to have the OEM rear strut bar) adjust the length of the legs on the tri-pod to sit where you want it in the trunk (where the spare tyre sits). For you guys, the tripod would sit on the right side of the trunk and point towards the driver. Strap the tri-pod to the bar with what ever you want to use so it's nice and secure. And with the tri-pod, adjust the height of the viewing position, tighten it and bingo! Not only you get to see an in-board shot of your car but you can see the way you drive an improve on things you think you are doing wrong!

I would post a pic of how we set it up but i can't find a pic of it! hope that helps!

And I would like to recommend to all the cheap ghetto mount that I made. It works just as good as one of the expensive camera bars, is easily removable, and easy to make. One catch...it will only work with stock seats (or seats with removable headrests). Get a 3' piece of aluminum tubing, drill appropriate holes for the 4 headrest pins, align driver and passenger seats, install headrests w/ bar in place, then go to camera shop and find appropriate camera mount for the bar... Much easier then it sounds. I should be able to take some pics on Friday when it's in use.
