Default OBD-II ... ecu chips .. LET US TRY and SOLVE THAT ALTOGETHER!

I can't believe that the reason why the company that makes customs ecu chips haven't cracked the 5th gen Prelude OBD-II ecu is cause they can't find the ******
CHIPS nowhere ...

how can a chip not exist, i mean they found the chips for the OBD-II on recent civis and tegs ..why can't they dig a little farther to find the one for prelude/accord ?

so ... if neone here have good knowledge and or links in the eletronic industrie..i think it is more than time that we do something and try to find the DAM chips so we can get our ****** ECU programmed isntead of having to do a shitty OBD1 swap!!!

need to check out the chip in a ecu to get the details..if anyone thinks he can try i'll open my ecu anytime to get the details if u need to..

WE NEED TO FIND A WAY TO WORK WITH THAT SOON!
i can't stand it anymore hehe
( that is refraining me from doing a lot of stuff i wanted to do )

what do you think ?

i've got some pretty good links in the microchip industry. if we can get a chip number i might be able to find the chips. but i don't know that just because we find a chip we will be anywhere closer. but we can try.

the thing is that a lot of place already have the knowledge to reprogram the chip..but they can't find programmable chip that have the same size/pins..
so ..

that's all we need to find..
ok NEONE got the ECU CHIP INFO ??

if nobody got the info i'll open mine and take pics and check up the numbers ok?

96+ Prelude and Accord ecu's are much different than civic and teg ones. No one wants to waste their time debunking obdII prelude/accord ecu's because there is very little market for them.

Don't need to crack the 5th gen ECU now. Check out AEM's new stand alone system:
AEM EMS system

That is unless you have an SH or don't want to lose the immobilizer option.

Edit: BTW no OBD swap is required (at least it doesn't look like it is).

The problem with the 97+ Prelude ECU is that it has no "chip". Typically, most ECUs have a ROM or EPROM that is dedicated to storing fuel and timing maps. When you talk about "chipping" an ECU, you are talking about replacing or reprogramming that chip.

The 97+ Prelude ECU does not have a dedicated storage ROM. Instead, all maps are stored within the SRAM of the primary ECU microcontroller. This microcontroller is a unit manufactured by OKI Data, and it is not flash programmable. So in other words, you would have to replace the whole controller chip to change the maps...

that, sir, is an oxymoron

Buy a Haltech E6K and wire it up, so it's plug and play.

$1100.00 USD, program it yourself, problem solved.

1100$ USD ...lol

the point here was to find a way to have it done for relativly cheap ..

something under 300$ USD ..cause reprogramming an obdII costs that at most place..

aklucsarits: if what you say is correct, then we are doomed to pay 1000$+ for reprog..that wouldn't be too cool..
are you 100% sure on that or you seen that somewhere on the net ??

please confirm

The 5th gen ECU design was researched pretty extensively by Todd M. from http://www.ntpog.org
Almost all of the info I have about the 5th gen ECU I learned from his contributions on the Prelude mailing list and other message boards. I can confirm that there is no traditional data ROM in the 5th gen ECU, and I can confirm that the primary microcontroller is an OKI Data unit. I don't recall the part or model #, but I have looked it up in the past, and it is not flashable.

There is hope for future Hondas though. It has been confirmed that the new Civic and RSX ECUs are flash programmable - just like GM, BMW, and other auto manufacturers have had for years. No need to burn a new ROM and solder it in. You just plug it into an ECU programmer and flash in the new maps.

ok
tanx..
so no ECU changes for me then
eheh

too bad..

We can still manipulate the fuel mappings using VAFC's correct???????????

thanks guys

yes u can..cause this interacts at the wire level in between the ECU and the engine ..

but the thhing that would be good would be to extend the rev limiter and add some new maps from the same method ..
i don't think it is already possible though..

unless using hondata stuff ..and even there..
