Are Slipstreams reliable for track use?
I'm planning on getting a set of wheels for track use and really wanted somethng just a little lighter and cheap (can't afford sp00ns
). The rota's are light enough for me and since they're going to be for track use i don't care that they look like knock off spoons. However, I just wanted to know how reliable they are or if they'll crack after one or two events. Anyone?

IM "Chad" for his impressions. He has ran slipstreams through 2 events that I know of. No cracked wheels yet.
I personally contemplated running a set of Rotas on track. However, I declined as I really want the peace of mind of speeding along on forged wheels, not cast as the Slipstreams are. Just my opinion...

thanks guys.....
my impressions:
i think they are great for 400 bones
i was kinda nervous going through turns 3 and 9 cause they are high speed turns....but they held up....need to take them off and throughly inspect them...2 have been in a wall and the first event i was on the rummble strips and aligator strips!! so far i have enjoyed them....cheap track rims for sure!

.....so what? for $100 each, I say you flower a couple of them just for fun!
Seriously, enkei makes the stock wheels... You think they are forged? NOPE.
Rota's should be at least as good as the stockers.

I am about to pick up a set as well but i wasn't sure which set to use for track wheels, the stockers or the rotas. They are both cast so I may aswell just throw either on. As of right now, I think I'll stick with the OEMs for the track, but I'm curious to what others will say.

if anything you would have a greater chance of them cracking on the street..but wait arent slipstream's cast instead of forged? you shouldnt have a problem though
some people have the misconception that cast wheels are weak, it really depends on the casting method and material the rim is made off, my Compomotive MO's are cast from superstrong ALuminium Alloy and they are probably the strongest wheel on the market today. They are the exact same wheel used by some WRC team. There was one occasion where i accidently drove over one of them metal UFO thingy on the road, i totally fuqed the tyre up...... it was shredded but my rim ony had some paint chipped off.
also like someone said here.... i think your rims go through more abuse on the road then the track, so i think ROtas are definitely OK for track.
