HP gain from no AC and no PowerSteering
I know I've seen this here before, but I searched without luck..
Around how much wheel horsepower is gained from disconecting the AC and powersteering?
thanks

search, "power steering" in both recent and archived topics
it'll pop up 30 topics on it.
my AC belt broke before, soo i pulled it out the engine, didn't notice anything.
but then i decided to take the PS belt off too, and notice a nice improvement in hp
i felt faster throughout the powerband, which in theory what u should be.

Not sure about the A/C - it's probably variable depending on whether or not the A/C is on. Maybe up to 10 whp?
Removal of the p/s should net about 5-8 whp conservatively speaking.

do a search
A/C: maybe .5hp. Just turn the A/C off, who cares about .5hp?
PS: 3whp/2lbs tq across the board on my gs-r, kenji got 6whp by removing his.

On the dyno, I have seen the following gains by pulling the PS belt -
1-2 SAE whp on a gsr
3-4 SAE whp on a b18c5
Folks, please don't guess - share facts!

The largest benefit you'll gain from removing the A/C system is weight loss. As far as power gain, just leave the A/C off...
I personally like the "feel" of my R without power steering. The dynojet ITR-NC generally visits dictated that I gained approximately 4 whp when the belt was removed, which is right on par with James

Just an interesting tid-bit of info... we dyno'd my friend's car with the A/C on.
It's a GSR motor with B16A pistons and CTR cams, stock header.
Made high 170s/low 120s at the wheels...
Turned the A/C on one click in circulate mode and it lost about 20hp and 15 ft/lbs of torque. It was crazy!
FYI, the ECU automatically shuts off the compressor at 7600rpm to prevent damage to the clutch assembly. Therefore, peak power at 8000rpm was the same on this run. Just a crazy jump in power at like 7800 or so. Heh..

Yeah the same happened to a guy with a Type R . Lost around 15HP but the bypass kicked in and peak power was the same. there was a spike but can't remember at what rpm.
