Default Finally took my first "long" ride.

Well after taking a few laps around the block, my girlfriends dad took me with him on a 5-7 mile trip. I had mixed feelings at first, I thought we were gonna take a small trip around the neighborhoods.. nope! We rode some pretty big streets and cruised down by the beach and the strip on the pier. It was kind of scary, since it was my first real ride, and it was 8:00 so there was about 5 minutes of sunlight then I was riding in the dark. It was probably for the best, since traffic was very light.

I couldn't imagine starting out on a 600cc bike.. this Honda Nighthawk 450 isn't the fastest, but going 40mph was plenty fast for now. I also stalled the bike twice

I still have a weird nervous/happy feeling. But overall I think it was a cool experience. Can't wait to take some more rides! For the people around here(Los Angeles) We started in Redondo Beach.. went all the way to the airport.. took all of Imperial until we hit the beach, cruised all the way down until around 190th and headed back home.

We're planning a trip to Leguna Seca around July 9th for the Honda Superbike Classic

Nice! Sounds like you're off to a good start.

You're riding up to Laguna Seca, right? That's gotta be fun. Some people I know are planning on doing that - taking Highway 1 (or 101).

Keep the rubber side down.

heh, that's how I felt when I first started riding.

"Holy ****!! 50mph!! Gotta slow down!!"

You'll get past it eventually.

Thats awesome man. The best feeling in the world is when you fill up the tank and just take random turns and try to get lost. Thats how the best roads are found.

Isnt it a bad *** feeling?!? My second day my buddy took me on the interstate 5 (after tellign him that i shouldnt till a few weeks of riding) but i think that ride made me comfortable so i always hit i-5 now. probably not the best idea ever but it made me a better rider.

just practice and keep riding. its always best when you have someone to ride with, so they can show you the ropes...have fun

That's cool man. I also took my first "long ride" this weekend. I went from the Bay Area to Sacramento. It was actually my first time back on the freeway since a near death encounter I had a couple months prior. I was scared shitless at first but I got comfortable 15 minutes into the ride. Good luck man. Keep the shiny side up!
