Default Wear to purchase harness hardware

ok befor you post of links to racerwholesale.com and I/O port racing. THEY do NOT have what i need if you look at the lap belt in this picture you will see that my harness doesn't have the snap lock type end on it, it has a 3" bolt end (as racers whole sale like to call it).

if you can't see it clearly on there then check this out

(^^^ look here ) look that the bottom left hand corner that is the style that my lab belts and my submarine blet have to mount. this picture also shows what type of hard ware i would need to mount this. WERE CAN I FIND IT???

racerswholesalea.com-NO I/Oport.com- NO http://crowenterprizes.com-NO

hopefully some one can help me out and if there is hardware on one of those site for this type of belt PLEASE explain

Question is, do you plan to mount the belts in your car permanently or do you want to remove them after the event and use the stock belts for daily street use? Do not remember what you are doing from your other post and too lazy right now to look it up.

If you want to swap the belts in and out you could have a problem. To mount this harness set correctly you would do best to have a custom seat mount made with mounting tabs attached at the correct angle. If you can't do this, typically the bolt ends are bolted into the stock seatbelt mounting points. Depending on the angle of the hardware, this may or may not be a good idea. This also leaves you with having to mount the sub-strap to the floor and you will need to drill a hole and use a backing plate. How you get the mounting hardware in a vertical position will be up to you. Someone else may be able to help you here since I don't have a complete answer for you. (It's actually been a long time since I've seen my ITS Prelude and can't remember how the sub-strap was mounted.)

If you want to swap this harness out of the car between events you may want to return this set and find a harness set from a manufacturer that builds them with double-adjustable ends. This way you can install eyebolts with backing plates and put the snap hooks on the harness.

couldn't i mount this with a plate on the ground and then just take out the bolt when i don't want it in. leaving the harness in the car 24-7 wont bother me, i will just sit on it or move it out of the way when street driving.

at this point im thinking that i will either A.) have to fab something up or B.) return this unit and get the one with the quick links.

i think im gona do A and fab somthing together.

i was planning on having my car up and running next week but its gona take 2 damn weeks for the ARP wheel studs to get here so untill those get here, it anit going no were so that should give me ample time to fab something strong up.

calification question. IF i mount the straps to the seat bracket it will be ok and safe and clear tech??

You could mount the harnesses to the floor, but I still think you run into the problem of making sure the mounting hardware is vertical like the illustration on the "correct" left in your first post. To get the hardware vertical or close to it would need to be mounted in the stock belt mounting holes which means the stock belts have to come out. Running racing harnesses in a stock car without a cage is not a good idea for reasons explained many times here.

Don't mount the belts to the seat bracket! Won't pass tech and there is really not a safe way to do this. If I'm thinking what you're thinking (mounting the hardware to the seat mount bolts), the hardware will be horizontal which won't be safe. Hardware will rip the nylon webbing and then where are you.

Crow makes nice harnesses, but if you want something removable I think you are going to have to find something you can attach snap ends to and put eyebolts in the floor with backing plates. Hate it for you because this whole thing is kind of a PITA. It is good to see that you are concerned about getting it right though since this can be overlooked and it is easy to get it wrong to just to get them in the car.

no i was talking about mounting it to the wedge enginering seat bracket, making something off of that to mount it correctly or the stock mounting point. taking the harness out is not a priority it can stay in and mostlikely will stay in i just wont use it on the street. im gona work on some diagrams with bard board and take some pics and see what people think. BTW thanks for you help i appreciate it, crow does make the belt with the snap locks on the end its just i got a deal on this so i don't know if i would be able to exchange it

Hate to be a bummer but the truth of the matter is that you have the wrong harness for your application. Bolt-in ends are typically used on "real" racing cars, where you can weld tabs onto rollcage structures.

For stock-bodied racers and track cars the typical answer is snap-in ends, eye-bolts for the lap ends (in the OE belt holes or through the floor with backing plates, and wrap-arounds for the shoulders, going to a lateral element in the rollcage behind the seat.

I do like the V-style crotch belts like you have and run them back to the lap mounts, through the side holes of the seat, so you sit on them...

You have PM but I'd vote for the exchange option. Too much weirdness to work around with the existing part...

I don't know what tools you have at your disposal, but chances are if it's something easy to fab, then it won't be strong enough in a crash.

How much slack do you have in those lap belts? Enough to cut the current end off and feed the webbing through a snap-end and buckle? Don't know if this would void the certification on the belt.

Also, for the right side lap belt, try using the bolt-end and bolting it through the exhaust tunnel that runs down the center of the car. Don't forget to use a backing plate.

I have all the hardware in the store, including backing plates and nylocks. Give me a call if you need any thing. 858-268-2244, ask for Tim.

Also I noticed that the bolt in ends are sewn in, so you will have to exchange your harnesses if you want to use the snap in ends.
