Default Tach problem its not bouncing its something else.....

This morning I fired up the crx from inside of the house as usual to let it cool down, walked on outside got in. Then I noticed my idle was a little high (1200rpm) but I listened closely and it sounded like it was still at about the stock 725rpm thought nothing of it. Pulled out drove down the street music pretty loud when I suddenly noticed I was at 4k @ 10mph in first...I thought WTF did my clutch start slipping like crazy overnight. Turned down the music and listened to the engine and it sounded normal like at around 2500rpms not 4 grand so I was thinking wtf. Kept driving like I always did and noticed the rpms were way to high for the speeds I was traveling at 3k @ 40mph in 5th? So I thought maybe it was the tach wire I ran from my gauge cluster to the remote start module disconnected it and nothing problem was still there. I'm gonna check all the connections next and probably pull the dizzy. Also my rev limiter is not working but then again i cant even tell when im at 6k. Any ideas at this point would be really helpful! TIA

Well fellas I replaced the alternator with one from a 92 eg hatch works good(I had the old one tested at autozone they said it was good but I had already gone through all the trouble of removing the master cylinder to replace the alternator so I decided to replace it anyway) But the problem remains so what do you guys think it is the whole dizzy? if it is can I use the dizzy off my d15b2 in the red crx?

Well I've replaced my alternator and igniter gonna try the coil next do you guys think it might just be the gauge cluster I finally had the ballz to floor it and the rev limiter is still working which leads me to believe the ECU is still reading the proper rpms...Ideas at this point would be very helpful

normally crazy tach output is associated with a failing ignitor.

Well i swapped the entire cluster from my red dx to the black one and the tach functioned normally so it is indeed just the tach or cluster...odd that it just went bad overnight
