Default which gauges to use in a swap????

i am going to put a 91 Si engine in my 89 HF....what do i do with the gauges; will the engine hook up to my gauges now and i can just put Si guage covers over the old gauge or do i need to get the entire Si gauge cluster...i plan on getting a tach so the speedometer is my main concern

The HF and all CRXs for that matter come with a tach on the cluster. The HF is special since it's tach redlines at 5500 instead of 6500 for the rest. Factory tach looks much better than aftermarket huge crap that makes holes in the dash. Your best bet is to get an 88-89 Si cluster and put it in. It will all hook up the same and then you have the correct redline showing. You can use your HF cluster instead but just remember that the redline will be 6500 and not 5500 as shown. Also the shift light will no longer work on the HF cluster. If you insist on an ugly aftermarket tach, get a cluster from an 88-89 Civic STD or DX hatchback (no tach) and install it. This looks much better than having two tachs.
