Default 96-97 Taillight Disassembly?

My friend with a 96 EX is trying to remove the little orange piece of plastic in his taillight and can't figure out how. I took a look at my taillight since it's the same piece (97 LX) and i'm stumped as well. It looks like the outer plastic piece (the part that's red and clear) could just pop out if you push the six or so little tabs that hold it into the black piece, but we're hesitant to try that since it looks like some sort of sealant is at all those little gaps. He doesn't want to break a seal on his taillight if it's going to start having condensation problems and leaking, etc. Is there a way to do what's he's trying? Should he just pop it and stick caulking in on the tabs before putting it back?

two things:
1) condensation will be an issue
2) dont do it. it just looks dumb. a friend of mine did it and it doesnt look m4d tYt3 or JDM y00 or anything like that, just ghetto. if you are going to change your tailights, do it right and buy an aftermarket set

if you are talking about the little yellow piece for the turn signal... most people i know just get a thin needle nose, crack the yellow into pieces and let it fall or yank it out.

cops will bust your ***** if you have a strict law enforcement. so pick up a pair of piaa yellows if you have a chance.

you can use a heat gun to melt the sealant enough to pry apart. OR...you can always use the "oven method" but be careful....haha
