225x50x15 BFG on stock ITR wheels? Will they work?
Like the topic says. I need to know if 225x50x15's will seat ok on stock rims. I dont wanna have to buy 2 more wheels just to mount a sef of Radials for the track.
If anyone knows it would greatly help, im trying to get to the track next weekend

I wouldn't try to mount them on 6" wide wheels. They _might_ work, but I sure as hell wouldn't use them for anything other than a drag strip. Get different wheels to mount those on and save the stock wheels for stock size tires (or close to it).
I wouldnt drive anywhere with them , just the track but thats why i was asking , becuase as stated above i dont wanna buy another set of wheels to mount these on.

Why not?
I've used 225/45 R-tires on 6" wheels.

Back in the day, I used to use them regularly for autocross. They work no problem, but created a gearing disadvantage.
you used 225's on stock R wheels?
what kinda of gearing dissadvantage did it cause?
well i guess the taller tire was slowing you down a little
they should have a higher overall standing , so that would work great for me for off the line traction and trap speeds.
Im sure ill still spin them to hell, but its gotta be better than my Azenis fopr the HP im making

Actually another question .
if i decided to jsut mount them on the fronts with my Slipstreams i know they wear fast, but how fast? I rarely drive the car on the streets, but when i do its either to drive to the track or to go out and play. i wonder if it would be worth it to just run them all the time . the other concern i have with that is how well you can throw those things into the corners?

im running the 225/50/15 BFG's on my car, i dont drive it everyday but i been hearing they last anywhere from 1000 miles up to 3000 miles. i feel the gearing is a little better for drag since your not shifting so much( i was shifting into fifth gear at the 1000' mark with the 205/50/15). in the rain the can be really slippy, and dont even try to drive the car fast on a twisty road. but i like them, the 205's didnt hook up on my car till third gear, these seem to hook half way through second, hopefully they'll hook up completly at the track where the sticky tire meets a sticky surface. i'll run a reguler street tire if i go on a long trip, like to florida or some other far off land, but any place else i'll run the BFG's.
holy hell 1-3k miles. WOW. i didnt know they were that bad. maybe ill just put em on my slips for now since i rarely drive it. if they wear too much ill take em off and get 2 more slips for my Aznis and just swap em out as i need

I used them once at Gingerman at ITR Expo 2. There is sort of a straight after turn 3 or something (I forget the turn #'s) on the 225 I would be about 7500rpm before having to break before the next turn, when I used my 205/50 Azensis, I was hitting redline on the same straightaway.
I am not a drag racing expert, so I cannot help you on what type/size of tire is better for launching.
*******My comments are on the size of the tire not type. I have never used BFG's drag radials********

i know that, my R isnt a daily either. and even then I wouldnt drive those wheels on the street. Ive gotten flat on each of them more than once. I did it a few times in my R with way less power than you and it straight up sucked. they feel mushy, turning BLOWS, wear out fast as hell, suck if they get oil or wet, etc. but like i said if you like wasting money then more power to ya

pete, i talked to sam, and he said he would have easilly got over 3000 miles out of his 205/50/15 bfg drag radiials(but he lent them to me and blah blah blah there bald) but we have a fwd dsm that runs nitto drag radials im not sure of the tread wear on these but hes got over 7000 miles on the with some tread left. hes getting 2.0 60' times on them, but he was telling me a few guys running the yoko A032R tires and getting 1.8 60' times. im gonna continue to run theses bfg's on my car, i just wanna see how long they last then decide what im gonna do next for tires. im gonna go to the track next weekend so i'll let you know how they work.

i checked that earlier, they should work ,but i might put them on my Rotas and just get 2 more Rotas later.
Damn i thought they would have more sidewall than that. i raced on BFG's once and i loved em . i coulda sworn they were 225x60x15, but i checked everywhere and that size doesnt exist. They let me borrow them off the trailor at an NHRA event.
I just ordered a set from Tirerack , they should be here Mon or Tues. So hopefully all works out and i can try them out next weekend at Atco and maybe get into the 11's on these things
