Default Checking alternator?

I'm getting almost no charge to my battery in the last day or so, how can I check the alternator to see if it's going bad? '97 Accord EX 4cyl. Thanx.

Or if you have a multimeter, start the car, run it at 2000 rpms and position both prongs on the + and - side of the battery. A good battery rates at 12.6V and a good charging system rates at 14.5V or so....

If you think it is not charging properly, look at all connections first and ground cable and such.... Half the time, that is the culprit.
