Default Harbor Freight goodness: which is the good one? :P

Unfortunately, I don't have a local Harbor Freight to test out tools and whatnot, so I'd appreciate your opinions.

Any reason why the variable speed, higher voltage, higher speed one is $50 cheaper? The 24v has a 1.7Ah rating like that of the 19.2v. It also includes 4 impact sockets. The only thing I can see worse is it doesn't look as "rugged" as the 19.2v one, but other than that...am I totally overlooking something?

The more expensive one has a metal case rather than plastic over the drive.

Its what I have, and I think the plastic cover would get torn up.

I have the other one. I've beat on the thing pretty hard, and it still twists like a horse. Battery life is very good. (good thing cuz it only comes with one) but the mechanism is that silly wind-up-then-strike type. Get this one:http://www.harborfreight.com/c...46701 and you won't regret the extra 30 bucks. HTH

I have the cheaper one, and I'm not too crazy about it. As far as lug nuts are concerned, its probably slower than doing it manually! At least when I got it, it was only $80.

Ah. Thanks for your input. I guess that's why they mean by "rocking dog mechanism". They've actually raised the price of the good one to $149.99.

On another note:

Torque-limiting extensions. How much would you guys trust these things? I've had a friend swear by his Snap-on one...but will these things wear out over time? Thanks!

You can catch it on sale. Print out the page when it does and take it into the store to price match.

As far as I could throw them.
