Default H&R OE sport springs and Bilstein Shocks. Need some feedback

ok...i just did a search and i couldnt really find any information that was in anyway helpful...so i decided to throw up a post.

i currently have a stock R with H&R sports (the .75 inch drop) and bilstein shocks
this is riding on stock wheels with Azenis tires

this is how i purchased the car, so i have no real comparison to the stock suspension or really any others...

the cons: 1. the car is kind of unstable when braking hard at 90-100 mph
2. the car has a decent amount of sway (in my opinion)
3. somewhat bouncy ride (not bumpy, bouncy)
4. i understeer when i take a 90 degree turn at around 40 or higher
5. high speed sudden lane changes can be scary (110-130 mph)
6. a lot of sway when taking an offramp at around 70 or so and then when the offramp becomes sharper, if holding same speed...the car can feel heavy

these are just things i have noticed with my aggresive daily commutes and fooling around with friends

Bbasso told me once, that the azenis tires on stock wheels can cause some of this. But, i need more feedback

ANYONE? is it the shocks? springs? santa clause? bill cosby?

but, it's not just when tooling around that i dont enjoy the ride...it's all the time, overall too much sway, too bouncy...

1) how many miles on the suspension? it may need a rebuild
2) depends how you drive it
3) indicates blown shocks
4) 40 mph...90 degree turn...i would assume understeer would be apparent
5) F&F lane changes are scary, for both you and innocent bystanders
6) perhaps you should consider not taking offramps at 70.

#1 - get rid of the crappy H&R springs, put the OEM ones back on (if you have em)
#2 - get some wider wheels if you want to run the 205 Azenis - they are too wide for the stock wheels, and make the steering feel like crap...

if that doesn't help, your shocks are probably worn out - time to replace.

the tires imho will make the car feel unstable. change the tires to fit the rims or the rims to fit the tires.

as for those springs & shocks, I can't say never used them.

good luck- stock is sometimes better then overthecountercrap.

I have stock springs and Bilstein shocks, 2000 miles, stock wheels and Bidgestone S02 195*55*15.

Same as you, for me those Bilstein are not made for ITR's, only for Civic.
Too much understeering.

I'll never buy an other Bilstein product for Japaneese cars.

I have Bilsteins with the stock springs, and they are great. No "understeering" or anything like that. Car ride is firm, but not rough, and very stable in the turns. The neutrality of the stock suspension setup is maintained with the Bilstein springs.

I have the Bilstein SP ITR specific shocks, and the stock springs are mounted on the lower perch.

"Same as you, for me those Bilstein are not made for ITR's, only for Civic."

Perhaps you don't have the correct version for the ITR? The SP or sports are more aggressive than the standard bilstein integra shocks...

I m on the lower perch too, my Shocks refs are:
BE5-2340 for front and BE5-2341 for rear.

Do you think my stock springs are too old ? My car is from 1998 and it have 80000 miles.

Those are the same shocks that I'm running, the ITR specific "Sports".

Re: springs worn out - not likely - springs take a long time to wear out - are they sagging (is the ride height off?)?
Anything's possible, I guess... I have over 80K miles on my springs as well.

What alignment specs are you using? There are plenty of causes of understeer.

If i plan on keeping my tehg I wanna do HR OE springs and bilstein sport struts for the gsr with ITR LCA's so theyll fit. Anyway Ive heard many good things about bilstein such as they flex versus koni yellows. I wanta stiff ride thatll handle pretty much everything. So Im assuming to go with the same setup.

get some better tires, and get the alignment checked. If it still feels crappy, then look at your suspension components...

oh, and re010's are NOT discontinued - I just got a fresh set in May. Tirerack has em in stock.

i agree, i think your problem is azenis on too narrow wheels (get 15x7 wheels or oem re010 tires), sell those springs and get oem springs, and get the car aligned.

none of these will really affect the body roll you are describing. the car shouldn't necessarily understeer around a 40mph turn, but on ramps at 70mph take it to a track!

This is funny, I have A032R 205/50-15 on the stock wheels and they are great, better than RE 010 with 195/55-15. I guess 032 is just a better tire in term of tracking and grip. And 205 on a 6 inch tirm is fine. Check tire rack please.
