finished installing the turbo today, burned an uberdata map, and now im having some issues. the car sounds like its running on 3 cyls. i cant really get it to rev, and it seems to buck and hesitate pretty good. i tried a few different .bins, and the results are pretty much the same. the car is also showing a solid cel, and shootin out all kinds of smoke. it has a hard time idling, and if i gas it then bring it back to idle it stalls. any ideas???

dsm 450's, uberdata( i tried 3 different maps which were scaled to run the 450's total) and a walbro 255.
hmmmm i had 450s along with b&m fpr and used afc to tune it, but the settings where really low to keep it from chocking on gas, u must be running pig rich, i used a stock fuel pump, how many psi do u plan on running?

my wastegate spring right now is 5.8 psi. im planning on swapping it out for the 8.7 psi spring once i get the car running good
edit: i dont think pig rich defines it. i think i burned like 1/8 tank of gas just idling for like 3 minutes....haha

your car is probably in limp mode.. when i first had my basemap made there was a malfunction and i had the same problem as you.. car would idle like **** .. u could see the motor pulsing back and forth each cycle... and i got a solid CEL. whenever i would drive it black smoke would come out the back and the car would buck like crazy.. thats limp mode.. got the problem fixed and car ran beautiful.
BTW i bet if you checked the code(s) it would come back with code 43 and or 45
43 - fuel system
45 - too lean or rich
these two things would probably render your car in limp mode.. as it did with mine

same thing kinda happened with my 440 injector install......my car sounded like a rod knocker.....we unhooked the fuel and it starting idling fine.....it was running rich as hell so i leaned it out with the vafc.....try that

ok- put some more gas in it, reset the ecu and made yet another map, this one much leaner than the others. no luck. i tried to get it to normal operating temp by idling, and after like 3 min of idle the rpms drop and it dies. the cel isnt red, and i cant get it to read me back a code when i jump it. if the ecu was fried, would it smoke or smell funny, cause mine seems normal...
J337_UNIT, how did you get your car out of limp mode???

also, when i installed my 450's, i accidentally cut all 4 yellow/black injector wires at the same time to install inline resistors. i was informed that those wires by the drivers side strut tower did not matter if they were matched up, cause the power through them is constant and that its the ground wires that come off the injectors that make the difference with pulsing. i have the inlines mounted, but the wires are out of order. would that cause my ecu to go bad??
No, that wouldn't cause your ECU to go bad. I'm leaning towards a bad solder connection somewhere in the ECU. Take the ECU out and carefully inspect all soldering joints...make sure everything has a good connection and that no two things are connected that shouldn't be [too much solder].
I love how you have a standalone, and all the n00bs are coming out of the woodwork to tell you to use an AFC.
AFC has one place in the world, and that is chucked in the *******.
CEL 0, limp homo mode, no codes involved. Cut your J1 jumper to revert the ECU to stock and see what she does... if the ECU starts behaving normally, you know something went all to **** with the socketing/chipping action.
BTW, what type and speed of chip are you running?

I am almost positive that you soldered something wrong or have the chip in backwards or something. This definantely sounds like your ecu is messed up or not working right..hence the solid cel. If the cel stays instead of turning off after a couple seconds when your car is in the on position, but not turned on yet then its an ecu problem. I had a similar problem when i tried a some maps I had gotten from hyperduck. Something had gotten messed up when he burned the chip and my car would run exactly like yours on 240cc injectors and 450cc injectors. Later on when i got my burner I read the maps and it turned out that they were all scrambled all over the place so something obviously went wrong. I wasn't even getting a cel though

where in my replys did i say to "use an afc"
instead of accusing learn to read

i had a similar experince, i burned a chip for like p28 or p30 thinking hey all this **** is the same right, well mine wont run on the p61 b17a gsr ecu, only p72 chip...
what kinda ecu u running?

j davis- im using a at29c256 burned at like 7800 or something with the moates burner. the chip is installed in the socket with the little arrow pointing inward toward the middle of the ecu. i had the car running perfectly normal off the stock p28 map for like 2 weeks before i installed the turbo, so if the soldering was bad, it kinda woulda have had to go bad out of no where while sitting in my garage not being used...hmmm.
mshue- i was looking over the maps i tried, and the #'s look to be what they should. i tried using 2 beerbongskickass maps, another d16z6 map i found on the uberdata forum, and i even just made my own basemap from scratch and that didnt work either. im currently switchin back and forth between 2 chips, so i dont think that one is bad. how many times can you re-burn an at29c256 ?????
