92 accord ex, how do i check engine codes??
1992 Honda Accord EX 4dr Manual Tranny w/abs
Ok, for awhile now, my check engine light has been on and i haven't paid much attention to it, but lately, it comes on very briefly after i turn the car on and stays on, in addition, i've been experiencing some loss of power sometimes when i first start the car and go, i will get into second gear, and step on the gas, and get no response for a second or 2, then it will go. I think the problem may be an O2 sensor but i'm not sure. Anyways i've heard there is a way to check engine codes by using a jumper so that the check engine light will blink the appropriate code. I took off my front kick plate to expose my ECU, and no jumper, or flashing lights there, and nothing i could find that looked like the wire i needed. In addition, things i have read have said to push the passenger seat al the way back and observe the blinking LED, but i have been unable to find any LEDs in the vacinity of that area. If someone can please shed some insight into this it would be greatly appreciated, this check engine light is really starting to annoy me. And on a seperate note, what is the proper procedure for resetting the ECU?
thanks
-Dan

on masanger side. on the right side of the car. next to the door. open the plastic thing. then search around and u will find a plug in there that is not conected to anything. its kind of dar red(that's the colour in my car) but it might be a different colour.
conect the two pins with a metal thing
then go and put the egnition on( don't start the car) then check how many times the check engine light comes on
if its a long bling then its a 10
if its a short blink then its a 1
so a long blink followed by 3 short ones = 13
or 4 long one and a short one = 41
make sure u read all the codes. u might have more than one. there is a pause between each code.
i thing the O2 code is either a 41 or 43 i am not sure which.
then to clear the codes from the ecu u got to disconect the cable of the batery for 30 sec then conect them again.

ok, i did look there but i will check again, someone i know that was helping me thought it was there too and took the panel off and looked and couldn't find it, i also looked yesterday when i was taking off the kick panel, but i will look more thoroughly, thanks again...
and just in case, are u sure it is there on the 92 accord, and not just later model 94 up?

if i remember correctly, the plug should be a light blue.
