Default Building a motor will this combo work???

Ok I am not that familiar with the b series motors. I know more about k series.
But here is my question.
Can I take a b20 block and put a b16 head on it?
What transmission would be the best for the setup?
What should the internal setup be?
Any other things I would need to make this set up work?
How much work the total cost be if I were to buy all the parts used?

BTW the motor would be going into a 91 civic hatch.

Thanks

to answer your first question, yes you can. it's referred to as a b20/vtec or a crvtec.
for the tranny, it all depends on what you're going to do with the motor. cable or hydro tranny? as far as cables go, for an n/a motor, 92-93 gsr ys1 trannys are really good (although hard to come by for cheap), if you're going forced induction, a 92-93 ls ys1 will be good for you. for hydro trannys, better ask someone else .
for internals, bumping up the compression would be a great idea as b20s don't run very high. it all depends on what you're doing, as stated earlier. if you're going boost, keep em stock. if going n/a you're going to spend a pretty penny as other b series slugs aren't going to work.
to make it work, you can either have dowel holes machined so the head and block fit, or get some golden eagle lsvtec dowel pins; and you'll need a new oil line to the head (there are also many kits available for this)
total cost will all depend on what you get, you're asking some very vague questions, but i hope i was some help

It would be running a cable transmission. Well anyone know about the internal set up should look. I am getting a pretty good idea. But still need a little bit more info.

I wanna make about 190 at the flywheel. I am looking to spend probaly about 1800. I want to know what it will take to make this work. I know this set up can be very hard to make and perform well. So I am looking into what I am going to need so it will run well. Does that make any sense?

if you're only going to spend 1800, it's going to be pretty stock i think. do you have the head or the block? you MIGHT be able to do it if you can find everything super cheap. you're going to have to buy an entire motor basically. you need the complete block, complete head, intake manifold/tb from a b16/itr, new oil lines+fittings, dowel pins/machine work (whichever you choose), and i'd suggest a type r (or similar) oil pump just in case. doing all that is going to be damn hard if you want to keep it under 2gs. if you can't do the work yourself, it's out of the question then. there is no way to make it dependable and run well at a low cost, it's just a spendy project, period.
