Anyone ever try this method of getting the pin out of the trailing arm bushing...
Since I will be putting my drums back on and selling my rear disc swap I had these poly bushings for the Civic sitting on my shelf for 2 years so I was like what the hell I'll put those in before I install the old trailing arms again. So I hacksawed out the part with the pin. I was burning it with my mapp gas torch but that didn't do much. So than I got the idea I would just BBQ the little bastards. So I went to the old Kingford out back threw the pins on it, douced them in lighter fluid and lit it up with the torch. I had to do it about 3 times, douce, let it burn, than wait until the flame dies. Than once the bushing is nice and torched and the pin is still hot shove your hacksaw between the metal and the bushing and it will basically sluff off the pin and you have a nice clean pin underneath without much work at all...

We don't use that old grill anymore we got a new stainless steel gas one.
I think another good place to do it is get like a clay flower pot and put the pin in there, cuz that stuff resists heat well.

dangit... i shoulda tried that, i jsut spent an hour cuting that crap off with an knife then sanding it smooth. got any tips for the other part of the bushing? the 2 metal half rings. any good ways of gettin those out?
HaHa.. toss another shrimp on tha barbie......i used a bench grinder with a wire wheel attachment to clean mine. I was gonna burn mine off but considering heat will weaken a metal i didnt go that route, being that the pin is a main support point in your rear suspension.

I don't think heat will hurt the metal, fire is only like 400*, its not like its enough to bend or melt the metal.
I used a nice welding torch & a wire brush, then I sand blasted them, polished them w/ a bench grinder & a wire wheel and painted them. turned out nice
