Brake question (pedal feel)
Yep, still having brake problems.
Question about pedal feel. If the system is working correctly, and no air is in it, should the pedal drop some before you feel a "hard base" ? The pedal feels mushy and I have to push down to get a solid feeling. I know the pedal has some play in it before it even starts to push on the MC, but this is more than that.
A simple question would be, if I pump the pedal three times while the car is off, is that how firm the pedal should feel when I am driving and I go to brake? Would that be an accurate comparison?

No. The brakes pumped 3 times while the car is off will feel MUCH firmer than hitting them once while braking while the car is on. Totally different feel.

Yes, there will be some. It is not an on/off switch.

I understand some. I dunno, as I mentioned before, the brakes on my g/f's Lancer ES film 10x better than my car. That just doesn't seem right. And I have had my car for awhile and the brakes never felt this bad.

My ITR brakes were mushy when I first installed them, but they broke in and are now nice and stiff. Did you change anything in your braking system that resulted in them being mushy? If you did, maybe you should wait for a while and to see if it gets better.
Yeah, you should definitely have some travel before you hit the "hard base".
The funny thing about brakes are that even if it's working 100%, if you think that it's not right it'll _feel_ soft. But, when you're 100% confident, you won't even think twice about the little travel you have. Paranoia is a bitch.

I think spec is 10mm or so of travel before you hit resistance... and it should be progressive from there. For me, it's the thickness of the Mugen pedal before it starts to bite... and then "Bobcat" pads grab pretty much immediately. I have found (even with the ol' OEM pads) that ITR brakes are almost "touchy" if you're indelicate. Just resting my foot on the pedal is enough to begin the negative acceleration. Adding more leg to it just increases the rate of slowing. Most American cars/trucks I've had the mispleasure to drive (Fords - F-250, Expedition, Sable) require about 30% of pedal travel before a noteworthy slowing is felt.
mine (nsx clappers) = soft pedal no matter what pad or fluid in there
mikehonda (formerly nsx clappers) = SUPER firm pedal no matter what pad w/ honda fluid
kepani (stock clappers)= somewhere between mine and mike's but more on the firm side
3 ITRs, 3 different pedal feel.

I don't know if this helps or not, but I used to complain about pedal feel all the time.
I've given up on the issue after countless bleeds and replacing the master cylinder way ahead of schedule.
The car seems to stop very well regardless of the pedal feel, and it's just never going to feel like a four-disk, six-piston Porsche with steel lines.
Also, pick a Honda Challenge car, any car, and drive it. You'll come back thinking your brakes feel just fine, probably. LOL....

Yeah, I dunno, I got the dealer working on it, and they replaced the MC for the thirs time and it almost feels worse.
Maybe I will have them do the ABS next.
The thing that bothers me most is that the first five minutes of driving the pedal feels exactly how I think it should feel, nice and firm. But after driving for about 15 - 20 minutes you can definately feel that it is much softer, and there is much more travel.
