Default how do i want to hone/block guard my block ?

my block is going out soon to the shop. I want to make sure they go about it the right way. I know honda uses a certain way, crosshatch or whatnot, and also the proper way to install a blockguard. Also.. i was going to use a golden eagle, anyone thoughts over this.

thanks guys/girls.

Install the block guard before you hone.

GE makes one hell of a block guard. Good choice.

The hone process should be the last process. Everything else should be done before.

i think block guards are a gimmick. how much can they really help, if they are lightly tapped in?

uhh, block gaurds will do you no good really. the place on the block were the walls get the most side loads is not the top ot the sleeces. its is about half way down. you will not even get side loads unless you are running really high compression/high rpm setup. also with high boost applications. the only company that actully braces the block in the right spot would be golden eagle with the godzilla sleeves. the block gaurds don't do anything your block will see on stock sleeve power levels.
the block gaurd will also create hotspots and could lead to detonations due to the hotspots. as well as warpage of the walls
