it seems right becuase i had a y7 in my car and i ran it on the p28 and it acted really funny, now i have the y8 with the cx dizzy and it acted funny with the p28, now i have an ls ecu in there (non-vtec) and it works fine. i am wondering if the ecu being non-vtec or vtec has to match the non-vtec or vtec dizzy

All the BS about vtec dizzies is a bunch of crap. You can take a z6 dizzy and swap cx internall and it will run fine. Also you can run a cx dizzy on the z6 motor without bolt it will run fine too. You said that your car runs funny even when you don't hit vtec. Check if your p28 wasn't chipped, also are you moving, is your car heated up, do you have good oil pressure, and did you try to test the vtec wire for 12V when vtec is supposed to hit?

damn can you get your hands on another p28 this is not right. Are you sure your CEL light is working fine, try unplugging something see if works. Also maybe try checking the oil pressure. Also did you time the distributor?

that's almost right for idle it should be around 1,300. Also are you running one wire o2 by anychance? You should wait until it warms up too.

I don't know the last thing I can tell you that your Z6 matifold could be giving a y8 ****, but I don't know. Also did you test your coil, clean the oil passages to vtec solenoid and pressure switch. Check your fuel pressure, maybe compression too. So the last p28 that you used you know works fine? Check you oil pressure maybe.

Are you sure you are not getting any CELs?
