Default Another At trans problem

I have a 91 ex wagon, and I started having problems with my At trans. about a year and a half ago. What it would do is get stuck in a gear(normally a low gear) and I would try and pump the gas until it would get to the next gear. After this started I started to change the trans. fluid and clean the plug which helped and I didnt really have a problem until now. Also I did have a check engine light when this happened. Now it has started to do this again, in high and low gears. But also what it will do now is it will get stuck in a gear and then after a while the check engine light will come on and then it will stop. I have been saving up money for an h22 swap because I am assuming that the trans is dieing and the engine it getting a lil old(211,000). Just wondering what you guys think that is it.

Btw, this doesnt do this all the time. For example it will do it like once each way on my 15 mile drive to and from work. And it almost all ways only does it after about 10 miles of driving.

it sounds like your torque converter isn't getting enough fluid.
this could mean that your transmission fluid filter located inside the transmission is most likely starting to clog up and is holding back fluid from returning to the torque converter.
this has happened to me before.

when you changed the fluid, did you notice that the fluid was a little dark instead of coming out reddish/purplish color? and did the fluid smell burnt?
anyways, my best advice to you is to start saving up and let the transmission slowly die. if the filter;s clogging up, there isn't really any way to prevent anything from getting worse other than a tear-down and rebuild.

Yea what I have been doing with the fluid is, I drain 3 quarts and than add 3 quarts with every oil change so the fluid isnt to bad, but I noticed that the plug gets really drity with the metal fragmets. Yea I am starting to save up now to throw that h22 in the ******* wagon.
