Update: Who's going to the USGP
I know this has already been covered about 2 months ago, however with the gran Prix 1 week away, I was wondering who all is going
This will be my first Formula 1 Gran Prix live. I can't wait

I'm not going this year, but you won't be disappointed! There are plenty fo great places to watch from. Try to get on the outside of T1 for qualifying and practice, it's more or less general seating then.

Thanks for the Tips! On race day, my tickets are for the Turn 10 Terrace. Should be pretty good seats. I'm camping out all weekend, got the 4 day parking pass for a 20'x10' lot.

Bring lots of water and some small snack foods (food is really expensive there), but you can't bring in anything made of glass. It's really hot and muggy right now in Indiana and it'll stay that way for a while, so come prepared. There's also been a slight chance of showers or thunderstorms predicted for the next week...just so you know.
It's not nearly as bad at night, but it still feels like your in a sauna all the time.

Hahaha! That's so true. Man, I remember the first yr. I went (2001) and hearing the 2 yr. old Cosworth engine of the Minardi's, tickled the inside of my ears everytime they passed on the main straight!

You can use the Pilot station truck stop shower down on I-465 and SR-37 (j/k). If you don't mind driving an hour here and back, you can borrow our's.
I won't be going this year. The CSi Gingerman kind of coincides with that event on Sunday/Monday. I wish I could just go to practice and qualifying to watch teh Carrera Cup and BMW Formula races, but I'd have to buy a race day ticket too.
The pit access day isn't all that exciting, but if you haven't been, then go. There are occasions when they do fire up the engines.

There is a $25 ticket that includes both Friday and Saturday, and then you dont have to buy a race ticket

Oh. In that case, I'll be up there tomorrow to pick up parts and a qualifying pass.
Forgot. I'd bring something padded to sit on. The bleachers are aluminum, so they conduct heat and give you a stiff bum.

I put through a request for tix, still waiting to hear back on what I got, where I'm sitting, etc. Planning on being there friday AM till after the race sunday.
Gimme j00 number Larkin! We ought to meet up.

Definitely bring earplugs, esp if you are sitting in the grandstands! But yeah leave them out as long as you can stand it. Also make SURE at some point you cross the infield bridge while the cars are out on track....and you walk where you time it as an F1 car @ 18,000rpm at ~180mph blows about 6ft below..HOLY SHIZZ!!!! A feeling you will never forget.
Also like other said, bring some bottled water and snacks. It will prob be a bit hot out there this year.

DEFINITELY go across the bridge onto the infield. You get to see/feel the cars really well here and get a good look at some rotor glow. Several cars went off here as well during practice/qualifying.
Lost of fun.
BTW, The Honda motor sounds very unique compared to the other engines. They sound like Banshees.

Ear plugs whats that I watch the entire race in 2000 and 2001.
Well I can't make it this year. I might try to go Japan GP this year or Monaco next year.
You guys have fun at US GP.

There will be on-the-lawn parking every day on Georgetown Road, which is the road that runs north and south on the west side of IMS. The parking gets cheaper as you get further. Don't pack heavy if you plan on walking a long way.
Most of you will probably take I-465 (the loop) in from wherever you're coming from and hit the US-136/Crawfordsville Road (16th st) exit, but you may want to also try the back way from 38th street and head south on Georgetown.
Altho, if you head north on Georgetown from Crawfordsville Road to scope out parking, you'll get a better survey rather than not knowing which one to jump on if you're coming from 38th street, going south. Don't count on being able to turn around on Georgetown very easily. Traffic's gonna be a bitch on Georgetown either way I bet.
Those of you sitting in the grandstands for race day, bring binoculars so you can stare at the umbrella girls....and the pits too. I think the BAR girls were the hot ones last year.

Something I'm doing this year is buying my Foster's before I get to the track. I just went and picked up 7 cans at $2.40 ea. instead of the $5.00 ea. at the track.
Damn liquor store, only had 7 of the oil cans in stock....I'll be back tomorrow!!!
