Mine was pretty damn loud for what it was. I had a cat, 2.25 pipping curved to a muffler and the noise with a silencer did about 110db on the CA noise test. Now what i was going to do was the same muffler but 3inch pipping straight through from the DP no cat. But now i think im going to sell the muffler, dont know yet.

Anyway this thread would help you more:

But seeing that your in cali this is the most stupidest thread one could create to lives here. But to each his own

Not even a regular header. Shoot 4 pipes straight through the grill as the exhaust manifold...that's it.

If your car is all raspy, sounding like 10 billion bumble bees on steroids then yuck, but if its clean no rattles, shakes, or raspiness then hell yeah . IMO i like resonated quieter exhausts where you can hear all motor.

The loudest car I have personally ever heard was an h22 open header. The loudest actual exhaust I have heard was a muffler shop exhaust with an apexi dunk on an high comp. LS.

i ran an all motor d16z6 for a while with a thermal 3in catback. no cat or resonator. when i tried open header it was just as loud. the thermal was the loudest thing in my city.

i then switched to an n1 catback to quite down a bit cus i wasnt turbo yet and that was nice. not too loud when cruising but when i got on it, it really opened up.

when i was running turbo i was running open downpipe for a while and i didnt think it was all that loud.prolbably the quietest out of the three set ups

greedy evo is really nice, and a 2 1/2 in. n1 is nice. Never use a resonator and get a high flow cat (random technologies) or a test pipe. A test pipe will get u a o2 sensor code if your obd2 though. depending on your header you could really sound like a pissed off weed wacker, and single overhead cam motors are sometimes hard to get a deep throaty sound out of them.
