ok my friend pulled up for the first time with his black 2004 subaru impreza wrx STi
omg this thing is sweet, but anyway now im determined to beat it (he runs it stock) with a $14k budget, it kinda seems impossible ..... but yea at least get me close so with my job $$ i can add stuff later to hopefully rape this thing
I was thinking of getting a 95' bmw m3 then with my job later tuning it..... idk what so you guys think??

I assume you're talking about Stock class SoloII. There are a lot of autocrossers here who can tell you what else is competitive in that class...

EFs are very competitive and it will only cost you little than 5k...everything that is.
----> neo, waiting for Spencer to chump in and holla how he beats hype-RRrrrs.

Huh?
With $14K the only thing I can think of in a straight line would be a 1st Gen DSM.
But if it's auto-x, what class is the STi going to be in? AS or STU? IN AS, nothing for 14K would beat it... cars cost wayy much more in that class. In STU... A Civic.

in auto x it's more driver skill than the car itself. i've got an ef that beats many higher priced and powered cars. i beat an 04 sti at the last event, granted it was a girl but that's what i mean by driver skill. i would assume he means at the strip or track?

i'm 2nd in csp the STi actually placed 1st in AS but his girl was 4th

You can get into a C4 corvette for $14k easily, and the C4 is still the car to have for A-Stock. If it's dry, the STi isn't going to win. Not against a C4, not against a Porsche 993, probably not even against an S2000.

I agree the driver matters a lot more, but we're talking cars here. I've beaten STi's in my bone stock Toyota Celica, but I don't pretend my car is faster.

Get a 2nd or 3rd gen Integra, add a mild turbo (something small with low lag and don't run much boost), proper suspension, LSD, good brake pads (no need for ricer rotors), tires, etc. It will come down to the driver, but it can competitive with STi's on the road course, autocross, or in a straight line (beware of the AWD launch though).
Of course, it seems like this guy might think that "road racing" means "street racing"...
