Is driving in 1st at high RPMS, say around 4k, at a constant speed for a few seconds before punching it bad for the motor? Sorry if the question seems dumb.
By the way, don't you love it rains right after you wash your car.

I agree with Chris, not bad....but be careful doing that when it's raining, you will get mad wheelspin and the rear end likes to get squirrely.

Well you won't get much of a punch at 40 mph in 5th gear, but it shouldn't hurt anything.

 

In an ITR, with stock tranny, 2800rpms in 5th would be around 50-55 mph and 40mph in 5th would be slighty over 2000rpms. I don't think low rpm driving is bad( I try to stay as low as possible during daily driving) as long as the motor isn't lugging... that clanking sound but I'm no expert. Mabe I misunderstood your post.

 

You forgot to take into account the JDM final drive... (which I'm only guessing he has)
