YES THERE IS A SPEED LIMITER!!
I know i was reading somewhere on an earlier post and somebody said that there wan no speed limiter on the 5spd accord well
i personally found out that yes indeed there is at approx 135-137 96-97 (obd2 mind you) accord will come to a halt. my car marches
right up to that 135 and gives me a great big "what the hell are you doing" and then.... CUT. does anyone know how that cut actually
works? im just curious is it a fuel cut off or what?
not trying to be a jerk just posting info maybe lieven the accord forum up
there are alotta seemingly smaller difference between the 94-95 / 96-97
accords can anyone with a 94-95 say for sure if there no speed limiter in
thier car? id like to know.

well, it very well could be that there is a speed limiter... i've only had mine up to 131, but then again, all speedos are usually skewed from the factory, so if a speed limiter does exist, then it may very about 5mph between our cars...
I've only had my car to 120. Friend of mine w/ a '97 Accord 5spd has had his way past 135 though, he said it was close to 150 on his speedo. Dunno how far off his speedo is though.
You'd have to have a lot of power (horsepower governs top speed) to accelerate an Accord past 140mph... even more so 150mph... plus, i believe 5th gear runs out around 150...
i dunno my accord pulls hard all the way to the 135-137 mark before the cut
and i only have intake exhuast still factory headers and cat.. well it was like that...

i'd figure 5th is good for ~160, at ~3k rpms i am doing ~80mph.
He has lots of mods, but my car still pulls on him A LOT on the hwy and i am ~.7secs faster than him in the 1/8 unless he uses n2o

nope 5spd. He also has 18s on his car. We think that throws his gearing off. We raced one time on the interstate from 40-100, i started ~5 car lengths back on him, we both took off, by the time I hit 100 on his rear bumper.

hey cory, do you know what the h22 ratios are??? im really thinking about throwing together a custom package tranny, short gears, high final drive sort
if you accord was made in japan, like mine was, the ECu has a speed limiter of 110mph. i have hit it many time, and it was still stuck there becasue when i did my h22 swap, i had a jdm ECU which made it top out at 110. i dont know about USDM accord, but jdm ones do have speed limiters. i have since had my ECU reprogrammed so now it tops out past all the needles and guages of my car.

1st 3.307 vs 3.285
2nd 1.950 vs 1.956
3rd 1.360 vs 1.344
4th 1.071 vs 1.034
5th .870 vs .812
FD 4.266 for both
I think a 4th gen SI tranny would be a great swap, you won't loose the streetablity that way.. Remember, the H23a redlines at 6,500 as well.. an H22a tranny would be really short gears for a stock accord motor.. 2nd might hit 50, 3rd around 75...
Well, my prelude with a 5th gen H22a tranny is at about 2950 at 60mph.. I don't know what a stock accord is.. Its also about at 4k at 80mph.. I'll double check that on my ride home..
I got mine up to 128, then ran out of room. I could have gone faster. Only 140 hp and an ATR badge. No limiter on mine, as fare as I know. Just my 2 cents.
Really? I got mine to 80+ in 3rd gear. I have almost no mods and a lot of heavy stuff.

Yeah, put a Prelude transmission in an Accord and you won't be able to hit 60mph in second gear with a stock redline. It has shorter ratios.
I did some comparison driving on the way home from school.. By maxing out each gear at 6500rpms, this is what it would come out to..
Didn't do first gear
2nd went to 53@6500, 60 at 7500
3rd to 80@6500, 90 at 7500
4th 106@6500, 116 at 7500
Sorry, im not doing 5th.. probably around 130-135..
Mind you, this is on a 5th gen tranny, a 4th gen VTEC tranny will have a shorter 4th and 5th..
