Looking Into A Swap But Don't Know What To Choose
Hey sometime within the next year or so im am interested in getting a swap and have these motors in mind:
1) GSR
2) LS
3) B20 w/ B16 VTEC head
I will probably be looking at puting a turbo depending on the price of the swap and what not so if someone could hook me up with some figures on prices for either of the three that'd be great.

First thing to consider................How much do you have to spend. And be honest.
Most B swaps are not cheap. Lots of odds and ends really run the price up.

What are you gonna rev to with the crvtech setup ? If your gonna rev past the limit on the b20 block you better build the block up, and if your gonna do that its not gonna be cheap.

had a b16 but now i gotta b20vtec. id go with that if i was gonna stay all motor and gsr if you wanna go turbo. im sayin that only because theres mountains of pages about how well the b18c takes to being turbo'd. i love my b20vtec. its awesome. and its still bone "stock"

Tyler, ok for that much you can't do too much from the prices i've seen. BUT what you can do (and someone correct me if i'm wrong) is do a SOHC VTEC engine swap..maybe ZC or other and put on a cheap turbo kit. I heard a few diffrent people saying that the set up i just described can beat a B16 CRX. Either way good luck with your swap
You wouldn't happen to have the DOHC ZC would you? i really want it to replace my current engine (if you want to call it that) ..i don't want the VTEC one..i don't know why..probably the wiring thing but if you are gonna get rid of it soon i need one within a month or so...email me at mwelshiemer@aol.com take it easy everyone
Yeah i have a dohc zc with headers, bored throttlebody, ecu, cold air, si tranny, lightened flywheel, and clutchmaster dual friction clutch...don't know if i'd sell it but if its a reasonable offer i might consider it...it only has like 47,000 miles on it too.

With this kind of budget you might be able to get away with an ls motor and a turbo.

Since you've already got a ZC, you may want to look into just slapping a turbo on it. If you go the homemadeturbo route, you may end up having some money left over.
Just another option to throw in the mix

That's what I did.
Had B16 for 8 months now.
I've outgrown it.
Bout to get B18c block

get some fi for that zc. Either a shot of nitrious or build a turbo for the zc and spend some time with an engine management system...i think you will be more satisifed. DOHC is already a good start.

I dont think so. Unless he goes super ghetto and unreliable, I dont think that $2500 will cover a turbo and an engine swap. It cost me $2700 for my B20 swap and thats not including the alignment and camber kit and such that came with the extra weight of the B20. Plus new tires and shocks. The $ really starts adding up if you want to do it right and make it reliable.... You could just boost your current motor and then have another D series motor on hand when that one blows up and swap it in there....
Good luck with it all
