Rear End Sliding: Good Or BAD???
Hey everyone, just got done with autox this weekend and my rear end is slidng in corners and in the solaom(sp?). it feels like im going to lose control if i keep going and dont brake. but then im not sure if its good if my rear end keeps sliding. my front end on the other had grips well and doesnt slide.
here's my setup:
1991 honda accord 4dr automatic tranny
Koni Yellows and skunkworks coilover with 560lb/in on all four corners
Generic front strut bar
Suspension Techniques Rear sway bar
17x7.5 Eagle Alloys
Continental Contactisports 225/45/17 FRONT
Kumho 711 215/45/17 REAR
Any advice on what i should do??? THANKS!!!

The first thing I would try is some 225/45/17 Falken Azeins on all four corners. Then see how your car handles.
Edit: I would also think real hard about if you want to keep those 17s.

Right now im thinking its the POS Kumho 711's that were sliding all over.
Yea, if i can sell my 17" rims/tires, i'll probably end up getting some 15" alloys with Falken Azenis.

Sounds like you have a lot of parts on your car, some of which are adjustable. It wsounds like you are pretty new to autocross and performance driving. Right now the best way to make improvements in performacne and consistency is to make your driver better. Read all you can about autocross, ask questions of those who know what they are doing, etc. You can learn about tire pressure, shock adjustments, etc. but now is the time to make sure that the nut behind the wheel is properly tight.
Some level of oversteer (rear end sliding first) can be a very good thing when under control and driving properly but too much can be out of comtrol and spin outs. Your comment about braking when the back is sliding is the opposite of what you want to do if you are going to maintain control and go faster.
Watch, read, ask questions and you will make big improvements.

Oversteer is something to be feared when you don't know what to do with it, and something to be cherished when you do.
Honestly, if your car is in proper alignment, then enjoy this setup. Oversteer is very helpful in auto-x. You'll see this as you become a better driver.
