Default Water flow question?

Hello, I have a '91 civic 3-dr hatchback 4-speed 1.5.
I just put a Japanese engine in . It seems to run really well. but......
I have not reall driven it because I do not seem to be getting any water flow?
the top radiator hose gets hot while the bottom hose stays cold I have let it run for
15mins or so and nothing. I put in a new water pump and thermostat . Iam kinda at a stand still here HELP!!!!!!!!
Thanks!

its soposed to be like that. if there is presure in the hoses your good. the lower hose is cool cause the coolant was just cooled by the radiator. do a search and you'll find the info you need.
