Installing Tein SS..... what bushings to upgrade?
Well I have a EF hb si with a gsr swap.
I'll be installing my Tein SS in a few weeks.
I know the car is old & it would be wise to replace some bushing, BUT I'm not sure which ones need it. Anyone with a horror story & things to look out for in advance would be greatly apperciated .
FYI.... I'll be going ITR 5 lug down the road, if that matters with the bushing at all
TIA

ey' Charlie. I'd replace all the suspension bushings with a master kit from either ES or Prothane. You could pretty much do them them all yourself. You might need a torch for the rear trailing arm bushings.
if you've got the 130 for the energy suspension, it wouldnt hurt to do em all, plus the 30 for the trailing arm bushings, all my stock ones were pretty crappy when i replaced them.
It was well worth the time and money to do them all.
While your down there you may want to go ahead and replace the tie rod ends and ball joints, most of mine had cracks in the boots and were soon to go out anyway. Plus you dont want to have to pay for an alignment twice it you dont have too.
heres a pretty good site showing whats involved, you may have already seen this:

also if you get the ES kit the tranny side shifter bushing wont fit b/c you need one for a bseries. I just traded someone on here for the right bushing.
the only bushings i can see that would change with the 5 lug conversion are the rear lower contol arms since you will have to use either 88 lca's or the ITR's.
good luck with it charlie

Also, ITR top hat shock bushings are much harder than stock or the ones found in a ES master kit. If you have the times, a complete bushing refresh will be rewarding
I would use the Mugen Bushings..or new stock honda..
the prothane and the ES bushings don't let the suspension move the way it was made too..

if you mean slosh around like stock bushings then you are correct.
i havent seen any downsides to these bushings. For one they should last longer than stock bushings, sure they may squeak a little every once and a while but oh well, im used to my 14 year old car makin noises

If you are referring to the ES shifter stablizer bushing, I already got a 94+ Integra kit cause i'm using Hasport custom shiftlinkage and that's what they reccomened.
*When you got the ES kit was it red or black?
is there a differnce in stiffness?
*Did the kit come with instructions with a diagram of what bushing replaced what/where on the EF chassie?
*How long did it take you? Did you have access to a press machine shop?
*in that link they talked about taping a grease fitting on it for easy access to re-lub the bushing. Is that really nessary or are they over reacting.

I'd go with new OEM bushings, its a toss up. Some people say E.S. bushings are the best, some say they dont last long. Figure this way the stock ones have lasted this long they must be doing something right.

there shouldnt be a difference in the black or red bushings, i chose red.
the kit comes with a diagram, its pretty easy to match up.
it took me a good 2 days at least to do the whole kit, install the tein SS, camber kits, and replace all the ball joints, all with hand tools. I just got a manual ball joint press from autozone's loan-a-tool and used it to press out the ruber from the bushings, then hacksawed the outer ring off. Although if you know of a machine shop nearby and dont mind spending the extra money, that should save alot of time and headaches.
i didnt tap any grease fittings on mine and its been goin a year just fine.

yeah about that....
why the heck do you need to do that? I mean oem bushing don't require it.
But OEM is rubber and ES is urethane....
are you suppose to drill through the steel? cause that suckers thick....
what kinda camber kit do you have?
