Hey guys I'm interested in the Tanabe Super Med. Racing exhaust.OR the Apexi N1,Yes I know its loud. (not the full cat, b/c I already have one) I just want to know how these sound? Does anyone have this or had it? Opinions, comparisons, experiences thank you!!!

god is it ever loud, but the super medallion sounds soooo good. i got many many compliments about mine when it was on my gsr. be willing to let it go if you want it too.

 

I had mt Tanabe SRM cat-back on for a little over 2 years. I liked it a lot. It is really loud, but it has a different tone than most other exhausts. It's pretty mellow at an idle, but at WOT in the upper RPMs, she sounds pretty nice!

(p.s. It just so happens I'm selling mine It's off of my 98 GS)

 

Apex'i N1 BABY!!!!!!!!! It's really not as loud as some ppl say it is. only when it hits VTEC is when it screams. I got an 01 gsr and everyone whose heard my exhaust loves it. It's full cat-back too and i've had it for bout a year and a half already. It's not retarded loud like some other exhauts i've heard. Doens't make your ears feel like their gonna pop and when it's idleing, you can barly tell you have an exhaust (light rumbles). low end rpm and midrange noise is smooth and not loud, but screams at VTEC! Sick *** exhaust. Highly recommend it!
BTW with the silencer, it sounds like stock agian!
hmmmmmmm.......why are u guys selling your tanabe's? I think tanabe's are sick too.
OH i have a friend who has a brand new Apex'i N1 if you want it. He has a 4dr so it doen't fit his car.

 

Not to start any kind of arguments, which I know will go no where on here, but everyone has their own opinion on what sounds they like. And quite frankly, you can buy any of these style fart-can mufflers for $50.00 or less, and it will make you just as happy. If you want to buy a cat-back to better suit the engine build up you have planned for the future, or currently, then don't worry about what it sounds like.


There really are a ton of exhaust threads on this site, new and old.
I'm sure you'll find that a ton of people made the choice to buy the Apex-i N1 exhaust. Some did it just to follow trend and be "cool" by purchasing an Apex-i product, some did it for the performance side of things.

Also, don't rule out getting custom piping done at a local exhaust shop then slapping on one of these style mufflers.

God does that apex'i n1 sound like ****. I don't know why ANYONE would ever find that raspy loud obnoxious piece of **** appealing. Too many ******* ricers on HT. Looks like I gotta go get a sound clip of my car with an Apex'i WS....

Give me a few minutes and I'll upload a soundclip of the Tanabe that you requested... It's on Skunk2 Stage 1 cams so it sounds wicked as hell, I love the sound of it...

 

hahahah your a trip guy! Ya I really didn't know what to expect when i bought my N1 but the sound is a bonus to me. I really do feel the difference at top end pull though. I'm happy! Yup he's right, don't do custom piping. If you do that, ur better off getting a cheap canister that looks good from tom's or ractive.

just a normal race medallion sounds disguting under vtec!

I would by far say that N1 is no way near as nice as race medallion under v-tec, plus n1 is loud in the street when your just rolling, tanabe race medallion is not.

that sounds almost exactly like my n1. hmmmmmmm strange......well that video had more under the hood sound. my n1 is slightly louder. a deeper tone at low end and personally i think the n1 vtec range sounds better then the race medal...
i'll see if i can find my sound clip guys! and no my my n1 isn't loud when i'm just rolling.

 

I have the full catback with custom piping. hi flo-cat, and headers. It is so loud. When i go pick up some of my friends there outside by the time i get there because the exhaust system is loud enought for them to hear me 2 blocks away. I put a bottle of water laying down on my seatbefore and It started vibrating. Mt car is way too loud. My body vibrates alot too, but o well.

If the car is your daily driver u might regret gettin a loud exhuaust. I had a custom setup on my crx and it was wicked loud and i got pulled over all the time. I liked how loud it was for like 2 days. then wished i got somthin that wasnt so loud. I got an Rsr now and i like it. Sounds nice up high and driving under like 4k u can just barely tell its aftermarket

 

I like both, but i believe Tanabe has fish scales in their resonators.. which isn't as good for exhaust flow, that's why i didn't get it. I dunno, if they still do it with their Super Medallion lineup?
