Default header and exhausts

Alright I'm new to this site so if i brought up the same question that has been already ask, then sorry.

I orderd the JDM 4-1 header for my 2000 GSR(stock) Will it help on performance any better? I know that the collector for the 4-1 is 2.5 and i will need a new cat to fit it, but i'm not sure on the stock piping and exhaust. Will I have to get a 2.5 piping and exhaust or can I still use my old one?

Another option I was thinking about was using my old HKS Hyper exhaust system, but I'm not sure if it will work with the 4-1 header since the system was meant for my stock cat . I believe the piping is 2.25 and the exhaust tip is 3inches.

Which option is better or is there other options, Let me know! Thx

Yes, the JDM 4-1 and high-flow cat will definitely increase performance. Both the stock exhaust and your Hyper will fit fine, assuming you buy a cat that is the proper length. Ideally, you would buy a full 2.5" exhaust so as to maintain the 2.5" diameter of the collector and the cat. However, of the two current options you have (stock and Hyper), I'd go with the Hyper if performance is your primary goal.

aw **** foreals? It'll be that loud?
I was ok with my hks sound when I had it on with my stock header and cat. It sounded like a deep humming tone, pretty smooth. I took it off cause it felt like I lost power because i was running on the stock header. But if its going to be louder then before then I don't wanna put that on.
Can anyone give me some advice on how to get a smooth sounding system with my new 4-1 header?
