not a honda bike but a HT member needs help
Hey guys my manager just bought a 89 kawasaki ninja 600r. i know its not a honda but im totally clueless with motorcycles so i thought u guys could help. its got a few problems and im trying to fix em so i can ride it before i have to give it back
1. How much should the alternator be charging? i hooked up a voltmeter at idle and it was at 13 volts. that means the alternator is good right?
2. i started it today and warmed it up. (i still had it running off jumper cables because i dont have a motorcycle battery), when i went to put it in gear everything went normal, the nuetral light went off and the bike shuddered a little bit. but when i let off the clutch it stalled right away. didnt even attempt to move forward. even when i revved it up to 4k it would stall out. sounded like a relay was clicking near the battery.
any ideas? anything will help.

I dont think motorcycles have alternators. They charge using something called magnetoes. I don't know anything about how it works, I have just heard it before.
oh i see. well thanks for the help. i got it driving today (using a car battery hooked up with jumper cables on the back seat) and it is THE ****. thanks for all the help.
