Any info on the FIRST 97 Type R that was just sold? 97-001
I was wondering if you guys have talk about the First Type R that set wheels in the US. I heard it was sold in Texas a month or so back and was juSt wondering how much it went for or any pic of it. Must be awesoem to have ITR 07-001
I thought all the # 1's were given away as prizes in racing events in japan, with the exception of the 2001 #1, which a guy had up for sale not too long ago.
I thought the Japan Rs were not numbered?
I read many many years ago the first 3 or so ITRs (1997s) in the US were given to Realtime. Also, I beleive that the 97-98s do not have the two digit year prefix like the 00-01 models do (ie 00-0950).
I also seem to recall that 01-0001 was owned by some kid in TX.....

I am pretty sure that the only #1 that went to the public was in 2001. Im not sure where the kid was from, but he posted it up on the old ITRCA as being for sale.
His name was Mark, and he was from Texas. I emailed him my interest in the car and he quoted me $26,000 w/ 30,000 miles. I was like
. Needless to say he didn't hear back from me.

The actual first PRODUCTION ITR's were delivered to race teams and those that pre-ordered them from Acura of North America. As for the actual ITR #, that has no relevance to production order, its just a badging...so Realtime doesnt have '97-0001 - 0003, they could have any badge number. FYI.

That is correct... I know him personally but am not friends with him... I worked at the dealership he purchased it from... David McDavid Acura in Plano Tx... He used to have a fully built N/A GSR and then he got the Arrr and sold the GSR... It's all completely stock as far as I know...
Also, another neat little fact...
David McDavid Acura in Plano sold the first Acura in the United States in I believe it was May of 1986...

Want about the engine number? That would be more important IMO.
There is a guy in Auburn who owns engine number 001 in a GSR.

When you think about it thouhgh, the collectibility of the car is what you're buying. You won't really be buying it to modifiy anymore.

It's not collectible at all though. It *MIGHT* be in 20 years but even then I doubt it. And at that point, ANY matching number car will be worth the same value, the number really wont matter.

As I recall, that's only true for 97. 98 was 98-xxxx I believe.

I thought Taz Harvey had the 1st R. He had it for sale on GRM's forsale forum a year or two ago. It was the DC Sports Speed Vision race car, or so I thought.
