Default question about hinged strut bars

i have a BMW friend that swears that strut bars with hinges are shitty no matter who makes them. I think this is not entirly true. Can i get some feedback from people that know what they are talking about, not some damned stuners.

~thanks guys

i've never heard of one breaking..but i would prefer a one piece rather than 3 pieces.

Not that it would break but it would not be as stiff. he says that would "shift or move", because they are not a solid piece.

i'd say it's not that cut and dry.type of material used, number of attachment points, location of attachment points, location of hinge(s),etc can all play a role in how effective it is.i'd say something like a Neuspeed front bar that has no hinges, and attaches to the upper arm mounting points would be superior to the hinged bars that attach to the strut mounting bolts.how much better it is would be hard to say.
so,are the hinged bars better than nothing?definately-they would certainly prevent the upper shock towers from flexing in opposition to each other better than no bar.but,a better designed bar will control that movement better.

I have hinged generic bars on the rear upper and lower...and then a Skunk2 non-adjustable, non-hinge up front.

You can really tell the difference between the solid bar and the hinged bar when you have them side by side.

The hinged bar is in fact weaker and more flimsy. (sp?)

This is my experience...I realize that I may be wrong.

I can stand on my Skunk2 and jump and that sucker will NOT budge...on the other hand I can flex my hinged bar just by yanking on it...I would think the stiffer the bar the more benefit to your handling.
