my zc rex missing only above 5k rpm's
well like the topic said.... my car runs good up untill around 5k or so and then just starts missing and cutting out. it is weard.... i can watch my tach and it will start to bounce down to about 1k under my actuall rpm's...??? i have actually seen i go to about 1000 rpms when i was at at least 4000? but in a millasec it will be back to where it should be.... i have put on: new wires, plugs, coil (external MSD), and i am starting to go crazy looking for this dang miss.... oh and im getting no CEL! any help is good help!

my 88 crx dx misses almost like that. The only thing is the number 2 cylnder is getting oil into the cumbustion chamber...so that explains that.......... do a compression and leak down test to get some more info

this may sound a little %ucked up but look at all your motor ground wires. i once hade a prob like this and seen that my ground wasent tight.

^^Do what he said man, grounds can **** up everything. I took a ground loose one time just ta see what would happen and it redlined at 3500rpm. So go and make sure all ur grounds are tight and where they are suppose to be.

a bad or loos ground is really that odd. check that first. then i would put a good known igniter in. still happens check for fuel delivery prob.
hey thanx guys.... i have 2 extra igniters and that did not work.... then i ran an extra ground..... (i mounted the battery in the back!) this cleared up a bit of it.... i dont feel the gerk so much now.. and it seems to pull alot harder to redline now... but i still get a little miss here and there..... and the tach still does the ****.... well better than it was... will grind off the paint where i grounded it tomorrow... and reconnect the new ground, from engine to front frame... thanx guys... any other replys welcome.... i will check it all.... just in case this dont work...
well..i ran an extra ground to the trany from the origanal spot on the frame..(i got the battery in the back).... i replaced the igniter, and checked my wiring in the dizzy.... i did not have the little rf filter screwed to the dizzy and some how... some way my coil wires got crossed.... ??? dont know how.... i must have gotten them mixed up when installing the external coil.... i did not have the right color wires so i just made due with a blue and a white one.... well i forgot which was which..... this thing runs so much better now.... exp with the MSD coil.... and cap....thanx for the help guys....
