I called Progress a few weeks ago...if I remember correctly...I think the rates were like 160/rear and 175/front...and on their site it says it's a 2in. drop front and rear

Seems pretty soft since my current ITR springs are at least 240 front and progressive on the rears from I think high 100's to 260 or so.

That seems very soft. I would question why they would make them this soft. Sounds like they were made for just a 2 inch drop and not for a performance/handling increase.

I usually read that h22 civics should have stiffer rears than fronts. Let me know what the benefits are with the springrates, any kind of testing? Is this for daily drives with occassional auto-x or etc...?

Pat,
We have tested our set up on many vehicles, our own, as well as customers. Obviously, we've increased both load height and spring rate to compensate for the heavier weight and more forward sitting H22 motor. Depending on what the vehicle is used for, recommendations may differ. Many would attribute using heavier spring rate in the rear to induce more oversteer to combat the excessive understeer of vehicles with the H22 motor, however to have a more comfortable ride as well as the handling prowess that many seek, a larger rear anti-roll bar is recommended so there would still be travel in the rear.
Remember, front wheel drive vehicles are performing two main operations: 1.) Steering 2.) Providing power. An appropriate shock and spring set up is needed to give viable control to the handling characteristics of the vehicle and the driver as well. We easily could provide a heavier rate in the rear, but this would cause many safety issues.
For years Civic's 89-95, we provide both a 22mm rear sway bar and a 24mm adjustable sway bar.
Let me know what you want to use your car for. And I'll suggest a set up. silvio@progressauto.com
