Default heat sheild rattle

anyone's heat sheild from their catalytic converter started rattlin'? i have a 94 ex 5speed, everytime rpms go low, the sheild rattles like its gonna fall off. i tried new bolts and bigger washers but my question is.. is there something like a rubber washer or plastic that i can use or would that get to hot and melt off? anyone else had this problem .. its very annoying

might be the bracket for the headers....the one connected to the block. i thought it was the shield to but over looked the bracket, so i insisted it was the cat shield, took all the shields off but still made the noise. then took another look. a few people had the same problem, but i ignore them, but then i had a 3rd look, n sure enough, that was it.

I had the same rattle on my 1996 Accord , i just put a 2 1/2" Hose clamp around the end of the Sheild and tightened it up . you may need a Clamp front and rear of Sheild . Or just use a Wire hanger in the same position wrap it around the end and twist with a pair of Plyers till it's tight around the pipe . NO MORE RATTLE . Good Luck

i just cut mine off. no more rattling, and no problems with the heat shield not being there. Took it off over a year ago.

If you remove the Sheild ,Just be carfull if you park in the GRASS at all , i've seen the heat from a catylitic converter start the grass underneath the car on fire . It in turn burned the car , the Catylitic Converters get HOT, especially after long rides.

Run the car when cool and jack up the side of the car, when you hear the rattle , push up on the Heat sheild when noise stops you'll know if the heat sheild has rusted loose . If so Hose Clamp it front and rear and no more noise and it will be secure . GOOD LUCK
